Crossroads RP

"Nathaniel..." Nox closed his eyes, sighed, and then leaned in-- very carefully-- to rest his forehead against the younger man's. "You deserve so much better from life."

Nathaniel looks down at his lap, hands folded gently. "It is... it is alright. I was not lucky enough to be chosen to father a child on Mistress Coquette, and so, I have no need of my former equipment. Only... please be sure Mr Krem lives. I did not want him to die needlessly."

"I'm fairly certain every breath that bitch takes, every hurt she causes, is as good as a prayer to thee Bitch," Nox countered, still horrified. "Nathaniel... how... what..." Get your shit together! "How can I help you?"

Carver sighs, leaning against the bedframe and putting his hand against his head. "I... can't. I can't wonder about it, can't think about it. I swore I'd never abandon a child, and I haven't, but if he's out there, he's growing up fatherless, just like me. I think he must be dead, though. We searched everywhere." A small pause. "He was sort of named after me, you know. Beth wanted to call him Carver, but I convinced her Charon is prettier. I never liked my name that much. Told her we could call him Ronnie while he's little."

"No deities were involved, save perhaps Junon for the healing." Was that a joke? It was said entirely deadpan and yet, surely he knows what Nox meant. 

"What?" Nox stared some more. "What does that me--" His eyes snapped to Nathaniel's waist, at the bandages there. The bandages that, on closer inspection, were too flat for... "Gods."

Who's been there... Andreas nearly stayed quiet, nearly decided it was too risky or just bad timing but... "Uncle Carver? Do... do you still wonder where Charon is? I mean, do you think he's still..?" I can't just ask 'what would you do if he was' but...

Carver pats his back. "Hey. My original dad wasn't all that either, you know. Just... spend some time thinking about who's been there for you and who hasn't before your mom gets back, alright kiddo?" He gets up off the bed and claps a hand on Andreas' shoulder. 

He shakes his head. "I am well. I am merely... no longer of use in that manner. She had the offending portions of my body removed, just as my flight feathers were removed long ago."

Nox squinted, and his mind failed to come even close to guessing that Nathaniel had been shaved entirely smooth. "She... poisoned you with something? Some kind of permanent virility suppressant? Shit. Are you feeling any side effects yet?"
