Varric

"Glad I could help." The words are offered more dryly than Kendrinas's cheeks at a funeral. "Do you know what you need to move on?"

GamesMaster

"I don't. I think I have to know who I am and what happened to me. And not just me. All the rest of us too. Maybe if you can name every ghost in the house we'll all be able to be put to rest together."

"Does that include the predator? The phobophage, the terror ghost?" If yes, problem (not likely to help with that I wager) and if no, also problem (Silence and Bethie are the only two I've met, so either misidentified or there's another hiding still).

GamesMaster

"I don't know. I don't think so. Maybe it's deaths, not ghosts?"

Varric

"Don't suppose you recall how you died?" He doesn't have much hope for a clear answer but every little bit helps.

GamesMaster

"No," she replies sadly. "I can see your dreams though. Eventually you'll dream it."

Varric

He stiffens, rage roaring to life in his chest. "You can what?" No (those are private!). That's too far.

GamesMaster

"Only when you dream death," she says, in a small voice. "I'm sorry. Is that bad?"

Varric

"Yes! Dreams are private. Especially ones like--" He sucks in a sharp breath, then exhales just as quickly. "You didn't know better," he manages. "Can you even help it?"

GamesMaster

She shakes her head. "I don't know who the blue person is," she adds. "If that helps."

Varric

A noise slips from Varric, not a sigh nor a whimper but similar to both. "Don't."

GamesMaster

"Okay," she says quietly, looking down at her lap. "Please. I'm counting on you to solve this. Okay?"

Varric

"I'm trying," Varric protests, swallowing hard as he recovers from the previous topic. "I'll keep trying. I hate failing." Another swallow. "Why is Silence so protective of Emma?"

GamesMaster

Bethie speaks; it makes sense, and he files away the question as answered, but he must have zoned out, because a moment later he can't recall what the answer was.

Varric

Varric frowns, the conflict in what just happened scraping across his mind. "What... what just happened?"
