Varric

"I'm going to try and have her resurrected," Varric replies as he gently, almost reverently, organizes and wipes the bones clean.

Carver Amell

"You-- you are? Why?"

Varric

Varric lifts his gaze to Carver for just a moment. "Because she deserves another chance. Because she's Clan."

Aveline Vallen

"Are you okay?" Aveline murmurs very softly to her daughter.
The Law cannot protect anyone, if it does not apply to everyone.

Marianne shakes her head, silent.

Carver Amell

"Fine," says Carver. "But she's your responsibility. And if she tries to hurt me, I'll be fighting back."

Varric

"If you hurt her, I'll kill you." Varric has already turned his attention back to the bones.

Carver Amell

"You can try," he growls. "I'm not looking to resurrect old fights, but she might be."

Aveline Vallen

"Boys, enough," Aveline snaps, slipping an arm around her daughter. "Carver, mantra. Mister..."

"Tethras," the dwarf says curtly. "Varric is fine."

"Mister Tethras, I understand that you're protective of Marian, but threats aren't going to help. From either direction," she says firmly, making sure to include her husband. I knew coming back would be hard on him but he's regressing so fast...
The Law cannot protect anyone, if it does not apply to everyone.

Carver Amell

Carver closes his eyes ,breathing deeply as he focuses for a moment on letting go of the anger, on being the man he knows Vangal called him to be.

"My apologies," he says quietly, after a moment. "This house... it's bringing back more than I expected."

Varric

Varric is quiet a moment, then nods. "Understandable. I don't like you or what you did, but I won't deny that you were abused and hurt as well. Your parents were shite and this town is poisoned deep."

Carver Amell

Carver nods. "I won't make excuses. What I did is unforgivable. But I was a boy, and I have always struggled with anger issues that my parents did nothing but exacerbate. I was in pain, a pain I wish no-one ever had to suffer. I needed someone to blame, and she made a convenient target. I didn't  know any better at the time. Mother is the one who should have stepped in, who should have done better by us both."

Varric

"Your stepfather didn't help at all either. Those 'lessons' of his were the worst way of dealing with your grief."

Carver Amell

Carver nods. "I couldn't be the man he wanted me to be. I-- wait, how do you know what he said to me?"

Varric

"Bethie's journal. And some fucked up dreams."
