GamesMaster

"Word? Sure, gramps." She grins.

Varric

"Being old means I've managed to survive. Given my history, that's a compliment," Varric explains with a soft chuckle. "What's your history, as little of it as there is so far?"

GamesMaster

Mari shrugs. "Not a lot to tell, really. I defeated a bout of Scarlet Fever when I was young and Mom was away; Dad got chewed out for not taking me to the temple to be cured, but I'm proud I got through it with only basic medical treatment."

Varric

"Interesting," Varric allows, studying the amount of fruit he's chopped up. Is that enough (how much fruit could people possibly want)? "What do you get up to when you're not fighting off microscopic invaders?"

GamesMaster

"Study. Work. I've been working as a courier, using my parkour skills to set new records." She grins. "Which is exciting. I don't plan to go to university so it's time to start thinking of a long-term career."

Varric

"Not much for academic study?" He doesn't sound condescending or judgemental, just curious. Probably be better if Marian was the one asking (can't blame her for being tongue tied though) but at least she's learning some about her family.

GamesMaster

"Nah. I'm more a body person than a mind person, if ya catch me."

Varric

"I do indeed catch your meaning," Varric replies, amused yet again at the creative alteration of common Mari uses. Almost like a casual form of Cant. "Thinking about going into courier work full time then?"

GamesMaster

"Mayhap. We'll see." She shrugs.

Varric

So that's a 'no' but you don't want me to ask what other ideas you have. "Well you've time and time again to pick." He snorts. "Not that you have to pick only the once either." He glances over at his shoulder at her. "Surprised you haven't asked anything back yet."

Marian Hawke

"I..." begins Marian, watching the pair. "No, you're-- I'm--"

"Cat got your tongue?" asks Mari, chuckling.

"No, I just-- it's just weird, that's all."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"Bit of a head trip," Varric agrees. "But I've seen weirder."

Marian Hawke

"Yeah? Like what?" asks Marian, eager for a topic change.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"Illithid stripper," Varric answers without pause.

Marian Hawke

"... a what now?" asks Marian, confused.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.
