"Silence: your mabari Silence?" he clarifies carefully. At her somber nod, he pauses a moment. "Understood. Why is Silence's absence important to whether anyone else was over besides Missus zi'Hawke?"

[Marian Hawke]

"If Silence had been home, I would have reason to believe that nobody had been over except those who were allowed to be home. Silence is very protective of both myself and my wife, and she's hard to fool. She'd alert me if there was something going on that she couldn't prevent. But she wasn't there."

[NPCs]

"Ah. What interactions did you have with Missus zi'Hawke on the day prior to her death?"

[Marian Hawke]

"I had slept over the night before, so we woke up entangled in each others arms. I made breakfast, since Merrill takes a while to wake up in the mornings, but over breakfast we quarreled about Seli, and I left unhappy. That was the only time I recall seeing her that day."

[NPCs]

"Did you interact with any other members of your Clan that day, in person or otherwise?"

[Marian Hawke]

"I did not."

[NPCs]

"Did you attempt or plan to do so? If so, why did it not occur?"

[Marian Hawke]

"I did not. It was a school day, I was planning to sleep at my dorm that night. I didn't have a date planned until tomorrow."

[NPCs]

"What did you know about the plans for the day in question of the following; Aveline Vallen, Isabela of the Siren's Echo, Zevran the Astounding Fanciable, Merrill zi'Hawke and Anders Ferell?"

[Marian Hawke]

"Aveline has work, pretty much every day for a good twelve or fourteen hours. Isabela and Zevran... I don't know. I'd assume Zevran was planning to check in at Voice in the evening. Merrill talked about doing some dress design for a new client. Anders... is Anders in town? I thought he was still out at the Auxiliary Campus."

[NPCs]

"When was the last time you did interact with each of the named previously and under what circumstances?"

[Marian Hawke]

"Let's see... it's Menki 20 now... I had a date with Aveline on Menki 16. Isabela I saw day before yesterday, and Zevran I saw at the same time, we went to the opera, so Menki 18. Anders... it would have to be... back in Srinax, when he came to town for some training."

[NPCs]

"Have you contacted Anders Ferell since you saw him in person? Or has he contacted you?"

[Marian Hawke]

She blushes. "I have a letter from him in my inbox, I haven't opened it yet. Received it... two days ago? Three?"

[NPCs]

"Will you consent to having the letter retrieved and read here?" is the rapid reply.
