Go Down

Aveline Vallen

Aveline nods gravely. "Assuming it isn't, ah, a certain schemer of ours, then this could be good for us," she murmurs. "For the trial, that is."
The Law cannot protect anyone, if it does not apply to everyone.

Isabela

Isabela nods. "Incentive to exonerate her, that's for sure."
"Our mistakes make us who we are"

Aveline Vallen

Aveline nods. "We can use the existence of a leak in their investigation to demand oversight," she adds, then exhales sharply. "But we can't afford to waste time. Wylde, forward march." A beat. "Ah, please?" the off-duty Captain adds.
The Law cannot protect anyone, if it does not apply to everyone.

Wylde

Marian Hawke

Hawke saunters from the kitchen to the back hallways at Voice, munching on an apple -- disgusting, but it makes a good alibi for where I've been, what I've been up to. She doesn't expect to see anyone back here, not this time of day, when most of the whores are sleeping and the rest ought to be scurrying about trying to find Hawke.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Nox

"Hawke?"

Except, it seems, for this one asshole aasimar. The blond stares at Hawke, a heavy sack of flour hefted over his shoulder. That might explain why there'd been a bunch of bowls and ingredients sitting out...
Lay down your burdens, weary one, and allow me to tend you.

Marian Hawke

Crap, which one was that again? Ah yes: "Nox," she says, startled. "I was grabbing a snack," she adds, lifting her apple.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Nox

He stares at her, bewildered. "Here?" He looks around. "Where are Aveline or Zevran? Isabela?"
Lay down your burdens, weary one, and allow me to tend you.

Marian Hawke

"Zev's having a nap, and Aveline had to run an errand at the guard station, so I said I'd meet her here when she's done." She shrugs. "No big deal. Having a good afternoon?"
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Nox

"...I thought you weren't allowed to be out of Aveline's sight," Nox says slowly.
Lay down your burdens, weary one, and allow me to tend you.

Marian Hawke

Isn't she? Fuck. "That's a bit of an exaggeration. She just has to know where I am at all times." She lifts her foot, showing the ankle band still in place. "Which she does."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Nox

That seems to pass at least some muster, so to speak. "Oh. I suppose I misunderstand?" he offers, then shrugs. "Well, anyway. I could use a hand; I'm making fruit bread. But I might have time to make a pie as well, if someone helps."
Lay down your burdens, weary one, and allow me to tend you.

Marian Hawke

She grins. "Is that a euphemism?" she asks, in a low voice. Please say yes.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Nox

Nox snorts, giving her an amused look. "No, I'm actually making bread," he answers her. "But maybe if you're a good baker's assistant, you can help bring a loaf up to Lux for a shared... snack."
Lay down your burdens, weary one, and allow me to tend you.

Marian Hawke

"I doubt I have that much time, but I can help for a little." And I can slip a little something extra into your bread while we cook.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.
