Tsuki looks from Shiori to Jassinth, then back. "So is he the father, then?" she asks, tone gruff, eyes narrowing. 

[Jassinth]

The ranger's eyes widen and he starts to fire back denials but, "...that's actually a very reasonable presumption, isn't it? Alas, no, that honor was not mine."

[Shisou]

"No no no," Shiori finally recovers enough to blurt. "No, there was no father. It was divine conception. An outsider specifically, ah, implanted me with a child."

[GamesMaster]

"...so an outsider is the father," says Tsuki, rolling her eyes. "This... Marv?"

[Shisou]

"Maeve."

[Jassinth]

"Daughter of Raplin, who is the Oak and the Great Trees, branch of Uyrll," Jassinth adds with pride. "Maeve is leaf and vine as flesh and heart fire, a seeing and learning for Her Father." He flashes a grin. "At least that's the fancy version; Maybe herself would say more simply that her Father hoped to understand why 'meat people' get so excited about the weirdest things."

[GamesMaster]

"You should go," says Tsuki. "Take your... Jassinth, and run. The family is dissolving. Great grandfather's on his deathbed and you won't be able to give birth fast enough to save us. And... look, if you're here, you'll be used as a pawn to try and position people more favorably when we dissolve. You don't want that. Seiya was right."

[Shisou]

"...I can't, Tsuki. I've got nowhere else to go."

[Jassinth]

"My pardon if this question is uncouth or obvious to those not an outsider such as myself... but would there not be some, ah, social protection granted by being the emissary of a deity? A minor deity, true, Raplin is not Heptad, but still, he is divinity and he has granted both his Blessing and his Benediction to Shiori, along with a task." Jassinith smiles broadly, the expression just a touch predatory. "You may dwell above the domain of Weiha, not in it, but insulting Thon by causing harm to Thons guest seems rather like the sort of thing that turns island cities into reefs."

Tsuki shrugs. "By rights, she could start her own House. Become a Matriarch. With no husband to support her, though, it would be... challenging. And they're already carving up the estate in backroom deals. Nobody will take kindly to her reviving the house or trying to claim the island for her own."

[Jassinth]

"Okay, that's good. Listing the issues, I mean, not the issues themselves," Jass clarifies with a laugh. "But let me dig more into that first; you said 'husband to support her' which could mean several things. Do you mean financially? Or more in that she requires a husband to..." He waves a hand uncertainly. "Speak for her?"

[GamesMaster]

"The longer time goes, the more difficult she's going to find things," says Tsuki, hesitantly. "Usually you'd at least have a partner if not extended family to help run the household, fight honor duels, speak for you in Parliament, and the like."

[Jassinth]

"Well, I am no warrior of legend but I am skilled enough to not brings shame in most duels," Jassinth replies thoughtfully. "Wood craft and herbalism in spades, some minor healing and seeking, tolerable with numbers and maths. I can cook and mend, though nothing too fancy."

[Shisou]

"And you'll help me, won't you, Tsuki?"

She glances at the unconscious man. "Well... I'm supposed to be engaged, but..."
