"You  know you can't be stealthy worth anything. And I know you haven't had dinner yet. Go eat." Cedric presses a cheek to Bull's hand, lovingly.

"Can too," Bull protests, sounding outraged. "I can be all kinds of one kind of stealthy."

Cedric laughs, but only a little. "It's just recon tonight. If I find one, I'll send you with a message asking to hire them. Okay?"

The Iron Bull

"Not even a little bit," Bull says flatly. "But I ain't got no better."

He goes up on tiptoes to plant a kiss on Bull's cheek. "Thank you."

After he talks to Stitches, the family healer and alchemist, Iron Bull stops by the kitchen. It's late, but staff often eat late, and a hearty sandwich has been set aside for him in the kitchen.

It's not unusual to see Krem, the head of security, also eating late; the man seems a bit troubled, picking at his sandwich, though he perks up a bit when he sees Bull. "Hey. Been meaning to talk to you about something -- wanna head out to the garden and eat together?"

The Iron Bull

"Huh?" He blinks, clearly lost in his own head. "Uh, yeah, sure. Just give me a minute..." He digs into the pantry, emerging with a canvas sack. He scoops out a few handfuls of granola onto his plate, returns the sack, then drizzles some honey over it. "And then..." Vanishing once more, he quickly returns with a pair of apples. "Cool."

Krem nods, well used to Iron Bull's eclectic eating habits by now. He leads the way not to the closest table, but to the most secluded: a wrought-iron table meant for taking tea among the roses in the garden, just big enough for two to have dinner. He lights a candle for light and to keep bugs away and sits, finally taking a bite of his sandwich to give Bull time to settle in before he talks.

"So. This thing between us..." he begins, slowly. It hasn't escaped Bull's notice how often the other man has been caught staring at him, but his attempts at flirtation have been met with an odd response: blushing, seeming flattery, but also a firm rejection of any attempt to take things further, onto a more physical level.

The Iron Bull

Bull pauses mid-chew, then quickly speeds through the process. "Is this a date? A surprise date? That's not-- Normally, that'd be great, but not-- I haven't bathed today and I, uh, well, I mean I washed my hands and arms but I probably still have some blood in my fur."

Blood? "No, no," says Krem quickly. "Sorry, I wouldn't -- this is more... a pre-date talk? Prerequisite to dating? I guess? I've been trying to find time to catch you alone for a few weeks, you're a really busy guy."

The Iron Bull

"Ah. Good, good." Bull takes a bite of apple-- about half the entire thing really, including much of the core. He chews slowly, deliberately, as he studies Krem.

Krem hesitates, looking down at his sandwich. "I know you've been with a number of folks around the staff. Some men, some women. I gather you're into casual flings and such. I'm uh. I can't do that sort of thing. For me, it's a real trust thing, being with someone. I have to know they're not going to, you know. Stab me in the back later."

The Iron Bull

"Oh. That's kinda, uh, that's a hurdle, yeah," he replies with a wince. Manages to not reach up and rub at his broken horn though, a tell that Cedric has been harping on him for ages to break. "You're being straight with me," he pauses for just a second at the ironic word choice, but pushes on. "So I'll return the favor. Her Ladyship comes first. Full stop. With that in mind, you want to keep going on with this conversation, I'm happy to listen."

"Nothing to worry about there," agrees Krem. "I know you're her man through and through, and so am I. Whatever she needs, she gets. I won't try to come between you. No, the problem's more of a... personal thing. See, I've been hiding something, and before we can go any further I need to come clean. Can you swear not to tell anyone, even her Ladyship? It won't hurt her none."

The Iron Bull

"Uh." Bull twists his lips from side to side, then blows out a breath. "Not tell anyone, sure. Not tell her Ladyship, uh, yesssss? I'm not great at lying, but I'm total shit at lying to her. So, uh, I can not mention it sure but if she asks me 'bout it for whatever reason? I'll try but she can crack me like a spun sugar butt plug."

He snorts. "Thanks for that mental image," he jokes. "I don't think it'll come up. If you don't already know what I'm going to say, no chance she'll guess it."
