The dire fox's ears bob up, then flatten back down with the coming and going of her fur. Fur yes! the beast insists, giving her an imperious stare coupled with puppy eyes.

Yes! Comfy, sleep good. The fox's tongue lolls out and she seems to grin. But also now too.

[GamesMaster]

I have to trick the humans into thinking I'm one of them, replies Tsuki.

Sly crafty fox? the dire fox sends hopefully, though she also seems resigned to her new partner looking dumb and smooth. 

[GamesMaster]

Close. I'm a wolf. She sends an image of a painting of a wolf, one with reddish-brown markings on the legs and a grey-black back. It's a painting because this type of wolf doesn't live here in the Free Outlands; it was more well known in the past, and some paintings have been brought here by sea of these beasts. The wolves here are larger, darker, and meaner.

Ears going back, the dire fox whines softly. Is okay, she sends, sounding like she's consoling a small child for getting second place. Will help get better. Learn clever, be fox.

Tsuki chuckles. My father was a fox. So I know a little of cleverness. Not like you, my clever one.

[NPCs]

Father... fox? But wolf? Wolf-fox? The dire fox lets out a soft chittering yip, then gives an actual nod of understanding. Will help learn fox clever. Come. First learn; brush tail. Clearly a very important aspect of being a proper fox.

[GamesMaster]

"Yes," she agrees. "And then we must talk battle strategies."

Slightly out of breath, Sweetheart stumbles into the bedroom, grabbing the ring just as the clock ticks over into her appointment. Noire, having forgotten, has gone to the back with Cindy to discuss how to handle the recent upset in their dynamic with Tenachka, leaving Sweetheart to dinner with Zevran while Claudia and Estelle both have other engagements -- except Sweetheart remembered their therapy appointment on the way back and broke into a run in order to make it.
