Go Down

Varisia Primfana

"You are not--" Virisia flares, hands flexing at her sides. "In order to purchase-- to purchase your contract from that sneering, arrogant bastard, I had to sign a magical contract that--" She takes a deep breath. "When I am legally, magically able, I plan on handing you your contract and blood via and clapping as you set them both on fire." Zevran had gone still as soon as Varisia interrupted him. By the end of her speaking, he's not even breathing, nor blinking as his eyes have closed again.
If I can not have what I am owed, then I shall do what I must to have better.

Coquette Blacquin

"We don't abide slavery here in Alessa," says Coquette softly. "You're free now." Or will be. What did she have to sign?

Zevran

Evidently Zevran, once he's had a good minute to process, is wondering much the same. "When-- what is-- Contract?"

Life without Passion is just another form of Slavery.

Varisia Primfana

Even if he'd been looking, Zevran wouldn't have been able to notice the wince on Varisia's face. But Coquette, well, that's an entirely different story. Two decades of marriage, and almost two thirds of that including a most complicated rivalry, means that she catches it. More, she sees that ever so brief, ever so subtle dip of gaze and tensing around the corners of her eyes that her heart insists is a sign of remorse and guilt. Both of which are among the far too many emotions that Varisia refuses to show to anyone, even her own wife. "Price," is all she replies to the question. "The full price is not yet paid."
If I can not have what I am owed, then I shall do what I must to have better.

Cindy's heart stops. Me. She means me. She traded me, finally, she's traded a night with me or access to me or my womb, she's done something with me and she's been backed into a corner I knew this was coming I didn't know--

Externally, she laughs. "Whatever it is, I'm certain it was worth the price," says Madam Noire, shoving the weaker parts of her down and away as she habitually does.

Varisia Primfana

"That is not yet known," Varisia says honestly. "Obviously I consider it so, or at least, I hope that it will be so. I suppose it shall depend on how," her eyes doesn't move anywhere in particular but Cindy would swear she looked directly at her for the briefest of instances, "certain factors interact. But the contract was very specific in regards to the speculative period; until and unless the price cannot be paid, that smirking bastard has no rights to you anymore."

"You have not yet said--"

"No, I have not," she cuts him off. "Nor do I wish to do so right now. It is nothing a male need to concern himself over."
If I can not have what I am owed, then I shall do what I must to have better.

Coquette Blacquin

"Well," says Coquette in Elven, clapping her hands together. "I shall send a runner for the healer and instruct Cook to make a hearty meal for the harem's brunch. Is there anything else you lack? Clothing will be delivered this evening, and you have been shown to your accommodations already."

Zevran

Freedom. Answers. Freedom. "If not with what, then will you at least say why?" He hesitates. "You are-- You are Dainulu, were you not?"

Life without Passion is just another form of Slavery.

Varisia Primfana

Pursing her lips, Varisia nods slightly. "One of my many work names, yes. As for why..." She studies him for a moment, then looks at her wife. "Paying a debt. Not of money or any sort of riches, but of fate. And that is all I shall say on the matter for now. Perhaps, if you earn my trust or respect in some measure, I may say more."
If I can not have what I am owed, then I shall do what I must to have better.

Coquette Blacquin

A debt? Could my father be involved, then? I know she often speaks of owing him for gifting me to her. Coquette frowns just a little, more in thought than anything else, before nodding. "Right. I will get going on that." She turns and starts walking away, trusting her servant to follow after her.

Between sending the servant and reaching the kitchens, she murmurs to him softly in Common,"You caught all that? I worry her price has something to do with me..."

The Iron Bull

Bull nods slowly, reaching up to tug at his broken horn as he thinks. Switching to the laboriously gained Dark Folk language-- he's long since come to terms with the fact that his voice carries for nearly thrice the distance of most others and learned to work around it-- he offers, "agree I do. Either price or debt. Not sure which. Or both."

Coquette Blacquin

"Do you think....?" She may have finally made good on her threats to whore me out if I didn't behave? She can't know about the Gem Merchants yet. She's only just gotten back into town. And even that's not egregious... but she keeps saying she can only protect me so long. "Keep your ears open. I want to know when before she tells me."

"Always, boss lady," he promises, glancing around smoothly before giving her a quick one-armed hug. "I'll make a point of being extra sweet with the stablemaster."

Coquette Blacquin

"Good," she sighs. "What do you think of the new guy?"

The Iron Bull

Bull looks down at her, expression somber and serious. For a few seconds, then he smiles slow and wicked.
