"No, you're not ill," she says firmly, adding a finger shake to her judgment to seal it. "You could do with a bit more sunshine and sleep both, I would say. And perhaps get some more protein. Do you eat elven?"
We are many. We are legion. We are... NPCs!

Coquette Blacquin

"No, Drow. It's like Elven but with some fish and other proteins. No cow or pig, only chicken on holidays."

NPCs

"That so?" The healer, a imisy gnome woman, looks intrigued by the idea. "I'll be sure to see about getting a treatise on that," she murmurs. "Well, try and include more than just 'some fish' then. I'm sure you're aware of which beans and nuts are good for-- very good. So see to that and get at least four hours of gentle sunlight each day. Use a loose-woven muslim to create a shade and drink generously of fruit-infused water." She pauses then, looking Coquette over carefully. "How's your stomach?"
We are many. We are legion. We are... NPCs!

Coquette Blacquin

"Raw. Wrung-out," she admits. "I hate throwing up."

NPCs

The healer pats her hand comfortingly. "Few feel otherwise," she points out. "But these'll help a touch, I wager." So saying, she presses a small wax-paper wrapped object into Coquette's hand. "I'll leave a list with your manservant for what I'm proscribing for you. Some honey-clover drops," she pauses to nod at the object she's now holding, "to clear your mouth and settle your stomach. And some teas, one for morning and another at night. If it worsens or anything else starts happening..."

She makes a face. "Well, I'm sure your lady wife will have me..." kidnapped "summoned again." Wait, what did she mutter there?
We are many. We are legion. We are... NPCs!

Coquette Blacquin

"Good, good. I believe your fee was fifty gold?" That's ten more than normal. "Bull, pay her."

Varisia Primfana

At her raised voice, it's not her manservant that answers but instead her lady wife. Taking the summons as cue that the Alessian rules prohibiting a spouse from hovering during a healer's visit no longer in force, Varisia slips into the room with the kind of response time that implies temporal magic. Or... possibly that she was waiting on the other side, hand on the latch.

"What's wrong? Is she okay? Are you okay?"

Behind her, Bull trails into the room without delay either, though he retrains himself from demanding answers or even drawing attention to himself.
If I can not have what I am owed, then I shall do what I must to have better.

Coquette Blacquin

"Wife, it's good news," Coquette replies. "I'm pregnant again."

Varisia Primfana

The older woman freezes, just for a second. Then her eyes snap to the healer, then back to Coquette, a look of hesitant hope forming. "R-Really?" she squeaks.
If I can not have what I am owed, then I shall do what I must to have better.

Coquette Blacquin

"So the healer says," promises Coquette. "This one seems to be a different race than before." She leaves unspoken her and Varisia's shared hope: it might be Drow.

Varisia Primfana

"Verdlauna."

The word is whispered, any volume choked out by the obvious overflow of emotion Varisia is experiencing. Eyes welling up, she rushes to Coquette and pulls her in close for a tender embrace. "Oh my wife, my love, my Verdlauna."
If I can not have what I am owed, then I shall do what I must to have better.

Coquette Blacquin

"My love," she agrees, overcome with emotion she can't quite place. "My beloved wife. Another child!"

Varisia Primfana

Varisia laughs, a sobbing, happy laugh and kisses Coquette thoroughly but gently. "Yes. Another child," she whispers, kissing her twice more, fleeting, almost giddy kisses. "Do you-- do we know if-- How far along is..? Can we tell..."

Looking much warmer now, the healer smiles at the couple. "It's very hard to tell this soon, with only once visit. Early on, that I can be sure of. At a wager, I'd say not the same race of your first child, but I could not yet say much else. I can return in a month to check the progress. That should be hopefully be enough time to see how the course of things is progressing." Behind the healer, Bull is grinning broadly even as he swiftly counts out a hefty bag of coin.
If I can not have what I am owed, then I shall do what I must to have better.

Coquette Blacquin

"I've just hired a new girl to help relieve Amphretite -- she'll be so useful when the other is born."

Varisia Primfana

Varisia stiffens for an instant. "A new girl?" she asks, a strange tenseness in her voice hiding amidst the still sincere joy.
If I can not have what I am owed, then I shall do what I must to have better.
