Coquette Blacquin

"Unworthy. You think I do not deserve you?" a cruel smile comes to her face. "You are correct. I deserve better. Far, far better than the likes of you, you cruel, unfeeling monster."

Varisia Primfana

The older merikos drow sways a little, the words clearly hitting home. But she pushes it away, eyes narrowing and face blanking completely. "I see," she whispers. "Well. If I had still harboured any doubts about my path, they are slain and settled now. This, all of this, is on your head. Your actions made this necessary. I truly hope your ill-chosen defiance will be worth it."
If I can not have what I am owed, then I shall do what I must to have better.

Coquette Blacquin

"You had a choice. You've always had all the power here, and you've chosen to use it to hurt me instead of loving me as a good wife should. I won't beg you for mercy -- you don't know the meaning of the word."

Varisia Primfana

"I tried to learn," she admits. "I thought you could teach me. But no." She sighs, running a hand across her face. Stepping forward, she grips Coquette's chin. "I saw you look up; did you recognize it? Do you remember?"
If I can not have what I am owed, then I shall do what I must to have better.

Varisia Primfana

"And why you didn't want it?" She doesn't wait for a reply this time. "Surprised you haven't put it together; you don't often apply it properly, but I know you're intelligent." She steps forward gain, reaching out to turn the chair around slightly, a motion that makes it impossible ignore the hard metal restraints holding Coquette in place any longer. Worse, it makes it possible to see that Bull's arm is outstretched above the burner. The burner that is designed to be hung from a chain affixed to the ceiling, the burner whose somewhat faulty design means that the magical heat, strong enough to burn wood, is transmitted throughout the entirety of the metal frame.

And the room smells of woodsmoke and cooked meat.
If I can not have what I am owed, then I shall do what I must to have better.

Coquette Blacquin

"He didn't do anything to you," hisses Cedric, angrily, but his heart sinks. Four hours and twelve minutes. Oh, Bull.. "Only the weak take their anger out on those beneath them."

Varisia Primfana

"Not anger," Varisia replies in a soft voice. "I'm not angry, not really. I'm hurt. Disappointed. And if you won't learn from being punished yourself, then you give me no other choice than to... pursue alternative methods."
If I can not have what I am owed, then I shall do what I must to have better.

Coquette Blacquin

"The only thing I've learned is that you're a petty bully too scared to face me."

Varisia Primfana

"What would be the point?" Varisia asks coolly. "I've beaten you before, and that when you attacked me without warning. I am your better." She shrugs, looking over her head. "Not that it matters; this is not about prowess but about punishment. About learning and accepting. Hurting you does nothing; you're a painslut and stubborn besides. But hurting your pets? That? That works."
If I can not have what I am owed, then I shall do what I must to have better.

Coquette Blacquin

He moves to spread his arms, but he cannot move them. So instead he spits. "This is what working looks like to you? How long have we been married, Varisia? And you still feel the need to torture me, to try and break me? How long until you admit I will not be broken?"

Varisia Primfana

"It's just the start." She draws her attention back to Cedric. "I will confess that I am impressed by his willpower. There are not many mortals that would be willing to constantly feel their flesh sear and char for over four hours to save another the same pain."
If I can not have what I am owed, then I shall do what I must to have better.

Coquette Blacquin

"He's strong. Stronger than you'll ever be. That's why I know I can trust him." In a way I don't trust you.

Varisia Primfana

"And yet I control him," Varisia says simply.
If I can not have what I am owed, then I shall do what I must to have better.

Coquette Blacquin

"Do you?" asks Coquette, eyes laser focused on Varisia. "You surely wanted him to drop that brazier by now. You wanted me to suffer from his failure. And yet he won't."
