Go Down

Zevran

The merikos drow stares at her back for the two seconds it remains visible, a sudden coldness filling him along with a sense of having missed something vital or misstopped badly. Unfortunately, the same problems and distractions that had prevented him before are still in play and that worry is rapidly swallowed by the rest. Getting to his feet properly, feeling weary and stiff despite feeling his muscles responding just fine, he crosses the hall and enters the other room. He falters there, closing the door but standing there silently, awkwardly, for a moment. Finally, he knocks almost timidly on the wall near the door.

Coquette Blacquin

There's a startled squeaking noise as Coquette, seated cross-legged on the bed, starts. As she recovers, there's some coughing and a more dignified, "Come in."

Zevran

Zevran pauses, not sure how 'come in' when he's already in the room, but just sets it aside after less than a second's thought. "Coquette?" he starts with, then stalls. "I-- that is-- how-- how are--"

Coquette Blacquin

Turning, she spies him, reddening just a little. "Ah. There you are. Are you, um. Well? Then? Noire said you fainted?"

Zevran

There's a pause, then, tentatively, "Cindy?"

Coquette shakes her head. "Cedric again. You startled us, I was just speaking with Cindy and Noire about the news."

Zevran

Zevran considers that a moment, then nods slowly. Cross-legged is more a male style of sitting, I suppose, even if the stammer and flush were so fetchingly adorable. "My apologies then Cedric. And, ah, yes. I am-- I am recovered from passing out." More or less.

"That's.... good! That's good. I think." He shakes his head a little. "Sorry. We're a little shaken up."

Zevran

"Understandable," Zevran says weakly, eyes noticeably dropping to their stomach for a second. He swallows thickly, then yanks his gaze back up. "Umm."

"I... Cindy was saying that you told her... well it doesn't really matter how, I suppose."

Zevran

Zevran pales. "I did-- I did tell her that-- I swear to you, to all of you, I did not lie. I thought that-- that Ciren had-- Nine years it tried to breed me and failed, I don't understand how this could-- what could have--"

Coquette Blacquin

"Hey, hey! We're not angry! We just wanted to know what happened, that's all."

Zevran

Zevran trembles, hands twitching a few times before he folds them behind his back. "I don't know," he says hoarsely. "I don't know." Stop it. Stop it. Stop it. Stop it. Stop it. Stop it.

"H-hang on, I'm no good at-- I'll just get Cindy, here, wait here a moment, have a seat," he babbles, looking frankly panicky himself.

Zevran

That must be handy, a floaty part of him muses Just have a few other people in your head you can summon up to do the things you're bad at. Like not murdering helpless innocents. That would have been helpful. "No, I am fine," he lies hoarsely, eyes squeezing shut. "I am just-- my apologies, I am just-- not..." Not fine? Yes, well done. "Shocked?" he offers.
