Coquette Blacquin

"I... am unsure. Well, they should."

Zevran

"It's never come up?" Zevran asks, honestly surprised. I would have thought they would... Well, I would have questioned and debated and discussed my, ah, our rather, our condition endlessly in their position. Never being alone, never isolated, never abandoned...

Coquette Blacquin

"It is... difficult for me to reach the House. I am unused to the... mental acrobatics it takes. So it is rare that we have a chance to really talk. We leave each other notes in my journal, and so forth."

Zevran

"Ah. I suppose that would make long, thought-provoking discussions a touch more difficult, yes," Zevran allows with a quick laugh. He runs a hand through his hair as he takes a deep, soothing breath. "Thank you. For indulging my curiosity, and allowing me to... settle." He rubs at his face, swallows hard. "I want to be your husband still. I want to explore the potential I see with Isabela. I want to... to find out who I am as a free man. I want to... I want to support you... support you being a mother. I..." His voice quavers. "I do not want to harm this child."

Coquette Blacquin

"I won't let you harm the babe," she says quietly. "Nor Varisia. She is... she isn't dead, is she?"

Zevran

"Not that I am aware of but if Ciren wished to apologize," Zevran finishes that in a mutter. "But she is not-- Did Cedric not tell-- or did I not remember to..?" Wincing, Zevran shakes his head, running a hand over his face yet again. "She tortured you near to dead, along with Shisou and-- and Iron Bull. Then she told the Household, and Isabela, that you were dying." He leaves it there, knowing she can put that together.

Coquette Blacquin

"My concern is that she may want you back, or want to silence me permanently. And I refuse to let her harm the babe, or you, or myself. So we need a place to go where she will not follow."

Zevran

"Oh." He has the grace to look apologetic and embarrassed at his assumption. "I see-- and am gladdened you were not implying... Ah, yes, safety." He frowns, brow creasing in thought as he considers what little he knows about Varisia and what options that suggests. "Well, leaving aside places we can't go either, such as the Underdark or the Fields of Breaking Steel." The tulwath and other outsiders there won't be as cruel or bloodthirsty as drow would be, but we'd be just as dead eventually. Mortals don't last long in the everlasting siege and counter-siege between Junon's favored and literally anyone else that wants to show up.

"I'm coming up with... possibly Vangal's territory in Draslina? Or...  hrrm. We could leave the Outlands entirely; cross the Devouring Ocean," he suggests dubiously.

Coquette Blacquin

"There is another option," she says slowly. "There is one place Varisia will not willingly go -- the home of her relatives, who spurned her and passed her over."

Zevran

"A personal aversion would-- wait." His eyes widen and he tenses. "When you say relatives..?"

Coquette Blacquin

"She comes from surface drow," she says quickly. "Not the underdark."

Zevran

Zevran stares. "There are-- in the Outlands? There are surface drow, a whole Famiglia,  here?" He sounds poleaxed, utterly stunned by the idea. "Where? How?"

Coquette Blacquin

"Near Nyra, as I understand. But there may be other pockets. There are a few families -- sorry, famiglias -- mixed in among a gnomish enclave called Robijan."

Zevran

"More than one F--" Zevran gapes at her, his mind utterly blown by this news. "But how did-- Does Nyra know about them? I imagine they must, how could they-- gnomes?" He starts to laugh.

Coquette Blacquin

Coquette makes a bit of a face. "I know it sounds... odd. But I am used to Surface Drow society now, or the odd bledn of that and Alessan that I was living under, and Noire will be there to help."
