Go Down

Zevran

She gets no more than a protesting whine for her efforts, and the same when she tries again. On her third attempt, Zevran smoothly slips off the stool to kneel on the side of the bed. "She's taken a sleeping draught," he whispers, then adds with an audible wince, "well, several. I... I am... the dosages and blending could have... I am concerned about her state of mind, my love. Very much so. She had access to far worse in her room so I do not think it a deliberate action but..."

Cindy sighs, looking down at her wife. "Well. I think... this has the potential to be very, very bad."

Zevran

"Yes," Zevran agrees in a sigh. Despite that, the look in his eyes is tender and almost content as he watches his wife gently cradle the hurting woman. She is troubled and wary, a touch haughty and very proud... but she is a good soul. "I coaxed some charcoal and a few other herbal aids into her before readying her for bed," he continues after a moment of simply watching her. "To buffer her system and prevent it from taking in any more of the various brews. So she should be on the end of their effects by now; if you press, she'll wake, though likely groggy. Or her bladder will wake her for you both in a handful of hours." Before Cindy can say anything, he thinks to add, "it's perhaps two hours to dawn." And, of course, none of them have any appointments to speak of for the next tenday, much lass later today.

"Oh, good," she sighs. "If we can wake her, she can consent to... to consummating the marriage. I wouldn't want to open us up to allegations. I don't... I don't want her to be alone with Estelle. I just don't trust that woman."

NPCs

Consent to... Zevran frowns slightly, bothered by the idea is such, but then blinks as Cindy continues. "Estelle? What have you noticed that troubles you?" He doesn't offer his own observations, or the impressions he's gathered from the servants, wanting to hear his love'sq opinion first. Zevran has a great deal of faith in his own judgment, but nearly as much in hers, despite the truthfully short time they've known each other.

"She's like the rest of them: cold, proud, and hungry for power. I can't trust anyone here except Claudia and you. For Claudia to be hurting this badly and Estelle do nothing about it... it rubs me the wrong way."

Zevran

"Not do anything?" he echoes. "She was here last night, no? She did not leave until we were here to take over."

"Sitting outside the door," she points out. "Not working with her or preventing her from doing herself any harm." Where has Cedric gone? I could use his expertise in reading people.

Zevran

"The door was locked," Zevran offers. Which, granted, hadn't stopped him from getting in but not everyone has the same indifference to locks as, well, as a trained assassin. "But I'll grant you that better could be done than half-shouting through a door i regards to comfort."

"I should mention," she begins, then blushes faintly. "Different topic," she warns. "Cedric seems to have gone dormant early."

Zevran

"Dorm-- ah," Zevran cuts himself off, recalling previous comments. "To avoid suffering through pregnancy, no? I see. Is that a concern in particular or..?"

"Just... I miss him," Cindy admits. "He and I were the first ones, I think."

Zevran

"Missing a loved one is never 'just,'" Zevran protests, then blinks. "I... did not mean to do that but I am pleased nevertheless."

She gives a wan smile. "I suppose tonight could have gone worse."

Zevran

"Very true," Zevran says gravely, nodding. "At least the drow do not hold with the ever wonderful 'wedding dances' travesties. Truly, those that call drow evil have not seen the horror of uncoordinated and often drunk people dancing an homage to poultry."
