NPCs

Justinia pauses but doesn't stop, winding almost sideways. And very pointedly not looking at Coquette. "Oh! Is that your beast's name? She's a... Dog?" she hazards.

Coquette Blacquin

"A cat," she says, trying to keep her amusement to herself. "Dogs are much larger."

NPCs

"I see... Are they large like a riding lizard? Or more like a grey render?" Despite the conversation, Vessu's fingers never stop their work, even without her looking. Given that she's only had three lessons so far, that's rather impressive. Granted, the design Coquette had given her is a very basic one, plus she's going at half the speed of Coquette at best, but still.
We are many. We are legion. We are... NPCs!

Coquette Blacquin

"Not large enough to ride, but not so small as a cat," she says.

Zevran

"Oh! I see, that's..."

She trails off, glancing over at the door where Zevran has appeared. He didn't interrupt, merely entered a single half-step into the room before stopping and bowing his head with polite patience. When Coquette gestures for him to speak, he clears his throat softly, then explains, "my apologies, my lady and guest, but there is a visitor. One Mistress Odette Emerison, Lead Scribe to Leatherworking."
Life without Passion is just another form of Slavery.

Coquette Blacquin

Mistress Odette? What on Aldis? "Send her in, please. And fetch another teacup. The blue one, I think."

Zevran

Zevran nods slightly, then adds, "she seems rather agitated, beloved. I suspect she is here in regards to the, ah, delay at the market?"
Life without Passion is just another form of Slavery.

Coquette Blacquin

Coquette frowns. "Please excuse me, Miss Vessu, it seems I am needed to handle a matter of the staff." Then she stands, heading after Zevran.

NPCs

Eyes wide, Vessu rises to her feet as well. "Oh my, I... I should go... I mean, that is, I feel moved to paint this design? And my paints are at home?"
We are many. We are legion. We are... NPCs!

Coquette Blacquin

"Yes of course," she says automatically. "I will see you again on Caelday?"

NPCs

"Absolutely," Vessu says quickly. "And Tethi will be free to attend as well," she adds, referring to her handmaid slĂ sh unclaimed sister. She bobs a curtsey, then hurries from the room just as Obi escorts another female drow into the room.

The newcomer barely acknowledges Vessu's existence, successfully forcing the younger drow to dodge around her in order to leave. She's clad in a heavy leather tunic that leaves her thighs and lower arms bare but covers her torso completely. She's also wearing matching leather boots that extend up past her knees a few inches. Her crotch, which would otherwise be exposed, is protected by an actual, gods blessed chainmail thong complete with lace ribbon bows. Both tunic and boots have a faint verdant shimmer that makes it clear they're magical in a manner that surpasses trivial cleaning or durability enchants.

Even worse, she's got a pair of wands held in very obvious wrist sheaths, plus a dagger at her waist. It's not unheard of for people to be armed in the Enclave, even in the day-to-day, but it's rude at best to be so while in a stranger's private rooms. "Mistress Coquette," the stranger, who must be Odette, bites out in a hard, clipped tone. "We must speak on matters of insult and harm to my person."
We are many. We are legion. We are... NPCs!

Coquette Blacquin

"Mistress Odette, I presume?" she says, sounding imperial and faintly amused. "What brings you to my chambers?" She draws the sentence out, glancing up and down Odette in a manner that makes it clear she finds what she sees wanting in some way; the way isn't hard to figure out, as her eyes linger on the wand holsters and the dagger.

NPCs

Odette clicks her tongue, her glare adding disapproval to the anger that had been the overwhelming tone prior. "Insult and harm to my person," she repeats, back straight and shoulders squared.
We are many. We are legion. We are... NPCs!

Coquette Blacquin

"You seem hale," she says, raising an eyebrow.

NPCs

"Ah, yes, of course, my apologies," Odette says more pleasantly after a very brief pause. "I forgot you were an ignorant child as well as a half-breed. Of course you don't understand proper patterns of speech."
