Shisou

"I... brought a friend," suggests Shiori, looking up to Jass. "He's going to be staying with us for a while. His name is Jassinth."

Jassinth

What in blight's name is wrong with her, that one with their resources and standing could not have cured? I know they have fallen of late, yes, but all of this has the marks of a very, very long illness. Or... curse, perhaps? Poisoning? Tch, I must speak with Shiori, soon, about this. Getting a trusted healer is becoming more and more vital.

GamesMaster

A head pops out of the roll of blankets -- matted black hair, dim purple eyes, squinting, crow's feet. Then it pops back into the blanket. "Hmph."

"Mother... I've brought a new tonic for you. Will you try it?"

"Why bother? The old one works fine."

Jassinth

Really? Reality seems to disagree, ma'am.

Shisou

"Mother..." Shiori sighs. "When was the last time you left your bedroom?"

At the silence, she sighs, proffering the tincture. "Please? For me?"

There's a small nod, then, and Shiori smiles. "Thank you. I'll let you sleep now."

Jassinth

Stirring, Jassinth steps forward, them hesitates. Not the time for introductions. Fair enough. Still... Moving with the grace and subtety of a seasoned ranger, the merikos drow ghosts around the room. He doesn't say anything or pike around, instead simply picking up dirty dishes and trash to take out of the room. Including-- specifically-- whatever medical supplies or instruments are around. Something about this doesn't make sense.

GamesMaster

He finds three empty bottles of tincture, plus one half-filled; all are labeled in the same neat handwriting, all in that script that Kitsune and Tengu share -- and which Jassinth cannot yet read.

Shisou

Shiori grabs a hamper of laundry on her way out as well, seeing what Jass is doing. "Thanks," she says quietly, as they leave. "I suspected her husband might be poisoning her, in the name of curing whatever she had before they met. Seems her healer's got her staying on the things he suggested."

Jassinth

"I am not an expert, but I know some basics," Jass replies, voice just as low but also switching to sylvan. Which Shiori doesn't notice until Jass is half done speaking and since when did she speak that? "And once I commune with Raplin tomorrow, I'll be able to Detect toxins magically. Unfortunately, that particular magic will not reveal medicines-- properly made ones-- as toxins when focused on the compound itself. I'd have to scan someone who's been dosed with it and is suffering more than healing from its effects."

Shisou

Shiori nods. "We can have you bring her her breakfast tomorrow?"

Jassinth

"As long as one of you comes along for introductions," Jass agrees with a nod. "Anything you can tell me about her... condition would help as well."

Shisou

"I don't... really know much. She's been like that since my father passed away. Took to her bed and only rarely gets up. Before our stepfather she'd have better days sometimes where she could be coaxed to sit out in the living room, but not since."

Jassinth

"No obvious signs of illness? Just... bedridden?" That is rather peculiar, to say the least. "We need to ask your sister as well."

Shisou

"The healer says it's a soul sickness."

Jassinth

"And in what ways has the truth and trust of this healer been assured?" Jass asks blandly, one eyebrow arching.
