Shisou

"Xe came with my powers," Shiori says, a little shyly.

Jassinth

None of that seems terribly useful but I suppose another set of eyes has value of its own. "Are you any good at staying unseen? Having someone guarding their mother would be of great use."

GamesMaster

Carbonne ha-rumphs, but nods. "I can do it. She didn't find out about me all the years we lived here, after all."

("Neither did I," grumbles Tsuki. "Wait, were you that pet toad he-- she caught?")

"Thank you, Carbonne. That would be a big help," says Shiori.

Carbonne harumphs again, but xir tail twitches a little, and as xe licks xir eyeball, xe seems pleased somehow.

The oracle  is an old Tengu woman, blind in both eyes, walking with help from a cane and an uncanny ability to know where doorknobs are. She settles herself in their parlor and lays out parchment and a pen, and a vial of what seems to be blood; she punctures Shiori's finger and adds her blood to the mix, then begins to sketch out a family tree. Sure enough, to Tsuki's relief, it's exactly what shiori said it was: Shiori is the child of Higurashi Kuronue and Higurashi Ronin, whose name is crossed out as he was disowned by the family after his death. Tsukikage and Seiya are her only siblings. No surprises there.

The next bit, where the oracle produces a small rabbit and feeds it some of each of their blood before ritualistically murdering it to read the entrails, is more problematic. "Shiori is pregnant," she confirms. "With twins."

"What?!" squaks Shiori, but Tsuki elbows her, leaning forward a bit.

"Tsukikage is also pregnant. One child."

Jassinth

Creepy weirdo. Seriously creepy. Smug and arrogant too. Heh, not surprised that Maeve is fer-- virile enough to sire twins though. Classic Maeve really. Wait, what? "Ah, congratulations?" Jass offers Tsuki awkwardly, still not sure how this works in Toukami.

GamesMaster

Tsuki pales, eyes widening. Shiori leans forward, putting herself between the oracle and her sister. "This news is... sensitive. Will this ensure you forget to tell your employer?" she asks in Tengu, slipping a few silver into the woman's palm.

She shakes her head, offering it back. "I'm sorry, young one, but--"

"Please. Just for a little while," she urges, pushing a gold into her hand to join the two silver.

"You have until tomorrow afternoon and no longer."

Jassinth

Ah, we're doing bribes then? "Ah, perhaps we could... Tch. Here, be silent and get paid," Jass says bluntly, tossing another gold at her. "For every two days of silence, there will be another. Until we share the news ourselves, of course."

GamesMaster

She gives him a withering look. "Only till tomorrow night. I am sorry, but I must report no longer than that or put myself at risk."

Jassinth

Jass hums thoughtfully at that response, glancing at Shiori; her show after all.

GamesMaster

Shori seems apt to argue further, but Tsukikage has recovered by then, and pushes Shiori a little aside. "We thank you for your generosity, grandmother," she says politely. "That will be sufficient."

The old woman is soon hastened away, after declining any more of the little teacakes Tsuki baked, and the three are left alone again. Tsuki sits on the futon heavily, staring at her hands.

"Tsu?"

"I'm... I'm getting married."

Jassinth

"Surely you do not mean to the ill-tempered brute whom you assisted in beaten bloody and broken?" Jass asks with a narrowed gaze. "That seems... unhealthy, to say the least."

GamesMaster

"You don't understand," she says quickly. "he's my only shot at getting stability once the family falls apart. He'll take me to his cousin's island, keep me in style."

Jassinth

"He... did not have the manner or bearing of one who would, ah, keep his mate 'in style.'" is the doubtful reply.

GamesMaster

"He'd been drinking. He gets crass when he's drunk," she says quietly.

Shisou

"Tsu... remember what happened to Seiya?" asks Shiori, doubtfully.
