"I've been a little busy. Also, it's not safe for me to travel without a lot of armed guards, and the funds simply aren't there yet."

[NPCs]

"Armed guards?" Tenachka asks with shock; surely faked shock and yet it seems sincere enough. "Why ever for?"

[Coquette Blacquin]

"My ex wife surely holds a grudge against me, and she is far more powerful than I."

[NPCs]

"Then why not simply have her killed?" Tenachka asks curiously. 

[Coquette Blacquin]

"I intend to. She is an assassin by trade, however, and good at vanishing. Grandmother is preparing to rescue my girls and, if possible, kill my ex-wife."

[NPCs]

"Ah," the older (much older?) female says, then... swiftly shifts topics. "Anywhere else you've always wished to go?"

[Coquette Blacquin]

"Not go, exactly, but I've always wondered what was on the other side of the mountains to the south."

[NPCs]

"You and the vast majority of the Outlands!" Tenachka says with a laugh, which turns cynical a moment later. "Well, those who have the curiosity and intelligence to wonder about anything more than base needs."

[Coquette Blacquin]

"Perhaps if I went there I'd finally be free of marriage chains," she sighs wistfully. 

[NPCs]

"Chains, are they?" comes the mild, almost careless response. 

[Coquette Blacquin]

"Is that not the Drow custom? To bind with chains?" she asks, batting her eyes innocently, as if that were all she had meant. 

[NPCs]

"Ahhh, if course, of course," Tenachka says just as easily. "It surprises me even now how well you're adapting to our culture. In most ways."

[Coquette Blacquin]

"Just because I was raised out of it does not make it not my own culture," she chides. 

[NPCs]

"Oh but it does," Tenachka says pityingly. "You can try-- and I fully expect you to do well!-- but you'll never truly fit here. Not all the way deep. There will always be just that little gap between you and us."

[Coquette Blacquin]

"We shall see," she says, voice cold.
