[Shiori]

Shiori rises up slightly, then glances at her sister. Tsuki nods. She glances to Jass, seeing his posture, and speaks: "We will do it. The three of us are trained to some degree and willing to help."

[GamesMaster]

Koji's frown only deepens, which is when Shiori realizes she said that in Common. She repeats herself in Tengu, but he waves her off after a few words, speaking Common as well. 

"The House would prefer you rectify this with the Eels and retrieve her through diplomacy and not fighting."

[Jassinth]

"I had not realized the house was so weak as to cave into the threats and demands of scum," Jass remarks in common, tone casual and bland. 

[GamesMaster]

Shiori stiffens next to him, but Koji merely scowls. "They have at least thirty warriors. You have three."

[Jassinth]

Jassinth glances around the richly if tastefully appointed room. "Pick three things to sell and you could hire two dozen adventurers for a week. Breaking the Eels and removing them as a threat would be worth such an investment, no?"

[Shiori]

Shiori tenses, murmuring, "That's highly illegal after the Proxy War some few decades ago. One cannot hire mercenaries on a short-term basis."

[Jassinth]

The what now? "I... see," Jassinth answers slowly, putting aside the details. It doesn't matter why it's illegal after all, not in the short time, just that it is. "Can you ask the Regent for assistance? Surely he cannot condone the kidnapping of his nobles?"

[GamesMaster]

"This is considered beneath him. Perhaps if we were in favor..." says Koji. 

[Jassinth]

"So he won't help but also forbids you from getting help?" Jass mutters, scowling down at the table. "What about summons?"

[GamesMaster]

"Are you a summoner?"

[Jassinth]

"...a novice one," Jass replies with a sigh. "So none of your... I'm sorry, I'm just realizing; do you prefer family, clan, house or..?"

[GamesMaster]

"House. And no, we have no summoners at home. Those can be hired, but they are vastly more expensive than hired muscle." 

[Jassinth]

Tilting his head back to stare up at the ceiling, Jassinth ponders a moment. "How powerful are the Eels, individually? By which I mean, what's the highest level spell you're sure one of them have cast? Can any of their druids shift into very large dire animals or elementals? Most dangerous foe or foes their fighters have slain?"

[Shiori]

"Several of them are veterans of the Kraken uprising of '78."

[Jassinth]

Jass lowers his head to peer at her for a moment. "And that means..?"
