[Shiori]

"Nonsense. You're perfectly lovely, as far as I've seen."

[NPCs]

That response, seemingly mild as it was, got a fetching blush and an averted gaze. "Thankyou," Emiko squeaked in a rush a rush of sound.

[Shiori]

"I was excited to receive your invitation to tea," Shiori continued. "I had hoped to get to know someone as lovely as you when I... changed families."

[NPCs]

Emiko lifted her eyes up to peer at Shiori. "I'm... not sure I understand?"

[Shiori]

"It is just... my old family was dying. Everyone knew it. I had no opportunity to make friends."

[NPCs]

"I'm sorry," Emiko said softly. After a brief pause, she added, "but... like me?"

[Shiori]

"Why not?"

[NPCs]

Emiko glanced away, a flicker of embarrassment in her eyes. "...I could not say," she managed to mumble a second later.

[Shiori]

"Then it must not matter," said Shiori blithely, letting her off the hook with ease.

[NPCs]

Emiko seemed a little lost at that point, eyes darting at Manu and Dreamy. Strangely, her eidolon didn't seem to notice the nonverbal pleas for help despite her previous behavior. Both more and less strangely, Manu did lock eyes with Shiori for a brief instance, a flash of protective warning in them. "Sso... umm... the tea?" Not really a question, nor much of a statement really.

[Shiori]

"Oh! I've been so enraptured by your company I forgot to try it." She takes a small sip, closing her eyes and smiling. "Wonderful."

[NPCs]

Emiko's lips twitched downwards, just for a fraction of a second, at the flattery, even as she nodded. "They always amaze," she murmured, taking a sip of her own tea. "DDo you enjoy tea?"

[Shiori]

"Of course. How could I even contemplate returning here if I didn't?" she teased. 

[NPCs]

"Returning?" Emiko echoed, a note of question in her voice. She seemed to be about to add something, before reconsidering it with a look of apologetic, almost pitying, hesitance.

[Shiori]

"After my... my wife released me from our marriage. I was wed to two women in Alessa, as they do things there, and when their marriage dissolved, I remained with one of my wives, who later released me from marriage to her and sent me back with my unborn child to my family here."
