"Jamie, my pack is the only one in the area with kids. He sought us out so he could murder my 6 year olds and sell them for parts! I'm glad he suffered. I wish I'd caused more fear and pain. But if that was you. I'd care. I'd care if it was mala feeling that or my kids or you or my pack I'd care of it was a kid on the street. It's not that I don't care or I'm in capable of caring it's that I don't care that people like him hurt but the innocent of the world I care about."

[Jamie D'vart]

"So... it's okay to be just like your parents so long as you only hurt bad people?"

[Toby]

"I think it is. Jamie that's what soilders do. We kill people so that the people we love can be safe and free. I'm willing to kill and die so that the people I love are safe. Maybe in a perfect world there's no place for people like me but look around Jamie the world we live in is far from perfect."

[Jamie D'vart]

"I'm not saying don't kill them, just... if you shot him in the head there'd be one less monster, but instead you're making more monsters."

[Toby]

"Ok so I shoot him, then tomorrow another one of his buddies comes looking for my kids. Then I shoot him too, then another and another and another at some point I run out of bullets or the feds come looking into all the gun deaths. But leaving him like that. Torn to shreds with a singe stating his crim. It lets the world know. What he did. What he was. And that we protect our own. News of a death that gruesome spreads quickly and those that would hunt us think twice. Gun shots miss, people survive being shot all the time but that? No ones coming back from. Pain and fear are powerful tools. That's a message that's going to keep my kids safe for a long time. That's why I do it that way. What's worse shooting a dozen people in a week or killing one man slowly?"

[Jamie D'vart]

"So doctor the body."

[Toby]

"What's this really about Jamie?" I ask "are you... what? Trying in to fix me? Save me from myself? Jamie this is how I am. And even if it wasn't ask any alpha and they'd do the same for their pups! And besides." I say getting up "you can't fix this trust me you're not the first to try."

[Jamie D'vart]

"Are you sure? You have all these ecuses, but it's not about protecting the pack is it, it's about you liking it. You wanting it. And that means I can't trust you because someday you might get mad and stop caring about me and I'll be next."

[Toby]

"You're right. I do like it. I like the hunt, I like causing pain, but you're also wrong. That mark on you protects you from me. I can't just get pissed off and kill you. I can't physically harm you without consent. The mark is old magic it protects you from me and other packs that would hurt you. So you'll never be next, if I stop loving you -which I won't by the way- I'll just send you away from the pack to live in some flat in another country. You won't be next"

"What about my mom? My older brother? What if I meet someone and fall for him and you get jealous?"

[Toby]

"I only hurt those who hurt others. That's my rule. You're family is safe from me -even your sister because I doubt she actually ha any control over what she's doing is safe from me. As for someone else.... I don't share well...but if you really love him I'll try. For you I'll try"

[Jamie D'vart]

"I just want a normal boyfriend who, who loves me and doesn't try to kill people I like!" 

[Toby]

"I'm not sure I can do normal but I promis not to hurt those you care for. And I promis to love you"

[Jamie D'vart]

"...and if my dad ever comes back you have to promise to talk to him before you try to hurt him."

"I promis."
