[Jamie D'vart]

"What about pee on things?" he makes a face. 

[Toby]

"Jamie were shifters not wild animals." I say sternly "just because w can change into wolfs doesn't mean we act like them all the time. Yes in form we do scent mark our territory but that's a hormone we release."

[Jamie D'vart]

"....through pee?" he asks with some trepidation.

[Toby]

"Through a scent gland. It's commen curtesy to use the restroom before moon rise on full moons so as to avoid any messes."

[Jamie D'vart]

"Oh, good." A pause. "Anything weird like that I will experience?"

[Toby]

"That really depends on what you consider weird. We do a lot of communal bathing and grooming. So you'll want to learn how to braid hair, and you might get licked as a wolf but not much."

[Jamie D'vart]

"I know how to braid hair. Well, the basics."

[Toby]

"Good" I say tugging out my wet bun. "Braid mine."

[Jamie D'vart]

Jamie blinks. "What, now?"

[Toby]

"Yep" I say handing him the hair tie. " it's tradition when a Wampanoag alpha moves his mate in that they start braiding their hair. You accepted me as your mate so it's only right you start braiding it. Think good thoughts as you Baird though since the braid protects our spirits and sets the tone for the day"

[Jamie D'vart]

Still he hesitates. "I'm not... Um... Native. I don't... I don't know how to talk to spirits or anything. Is it really okay if I...?"

[Toby]

"There is more to being native than blood. I wasn't born Wampanoag and yet that is what I am. Through ritual, love, and learning I am now recognized by my people as Wampanoag and my children are Wampanoag and any children we have will be too. You don't have to be native to be part of my family and part of my practice. So yes it's ok for you to braid my hair"

[Jamie D'vart]

"but what if I mess up the strands and you get cursed!"

[Toby]

"I won't that's not how this works. The braid protects my spirit but I won't get cursed if you don't do it right. Just think good thoughts and bride if tight and it will be fine.. what makes you happy?"

[Jamie D'vart]

"Painting." He sighs, taking up the strands and humming to himself a little as he begins to work.
