I growl low. "I hate alpha malt alphas they let it go to their heads"

[Jamie D'vart]

"Yeah, well, Mom didn't say shit to him either. I hate who she is when she's around him."

[Toby]

"It's called droning. Some alphas use their pull on their mates to make them into brainless slaves. That explains why she flipped out. He's convinced her she has no right to consent and she didn't want that to happen to you."

Jamie makes a face. "You won't do that, right?"

[Toby]

"Can we... rescue Mom somehow?"

[Toby]

"I can challenge him on it. But the only way to fix it is kill him"

[Jamie D'vart]

"Seems like an easy win to me," grumbles the rat.

Jamie winces. "Let's... Not do that."

[Toby]

"We can file a report then but it won't do much if she's not willing to leave." I say gently "still Dixon lives close buy I'll have keep an eye on them if things go bad he can step in a doubt she wants to see me."

"Yeah no shit," Jamie sifhs. "Sorry she threatened you."

[Toby]

"It's ok. It makes sense knowing what I know now. We'll do our best to keep her safe." I say handing him his shake from the drive through

Jamie slurps on his shake, nodding. "She must have assumed you wanted that for me."

[Toby]

"I'd never do that." I say again.

[Jamie D'vart]

"Yeah...." He sighs. "I hope this doesn't cause trouble."

Across town, Sophia knocks on her son's door before pushing it open. When she sees the open window, the missing rat cage, she curses, then goes to the phone and dials a number she hasn't used in a decade.
