Tobys cabin

[Jamie D'vart]

"Never, never again, I'm a terrible monster, I -- I'm just like you," he whispers, tears welling up in his eyes. 

[Toby]

I wince a little as the truth of it stings but I sigh "yes, yes you are like me when your nature is free but the fact that you're sick now shows you're nothing like me. Because you care. You care that you can be a monster. A killer. You care and I don't. I'd do it all again if I could get away with it. I'm going to leave this place and go back to pretending to be good but you. You'll actually be good. So no Jamie you're nothing like me"

[Jamie D'vart]

"But what I did-- I can't do this again, I can't be around you, I can't --" 

Another dry-heave. 

"I need my daddy," he whimpers. 

[Toby]

I can't help it I emit a low deep possessive growl. He can't just leave me! I take a breath calming the panic I can feel inside me. "I can give him a call.... But Jamie he'll say the same thing. You need to eat. And.....please don't go." The last bit is whispered so soft I'm not sure he even can hear it.

[Jamie D'vart]

"I-- no! That's not what I--! I mean, when you do this. Again. If you. If you kill someoen again, I shouldn't be... I shouldn;t be there. It's bad for me."

[Toby]

I pull him tightly into me relief flooding over me. I didn't ruin this. Thank the gods.  "Ok baby. I'll make sure you leave once you start to get full. I'll take better care of you next time I promise"

[Jamie D'vart]

Jamie turns, sobbing into Toby's chest, clutching at him desperately. 

[Toby]

"Hey it's ok I'm here I got you baby I'm right here" I pull him into me tight as I can.

[Toby]

I call Acutis once Jamie settles and start making breakfast while we wait. There's a stack of pancakes and bacon waiting on the table for him and black coffee when he lets himself in the cabin door. "Hey." I say calmly. "Do you want me to take a hike while you talk or....."

[Acutis D'Vart]

"Depends on if you mind me talking." Acutis looked tired and a little frustrated with...something. "How bad is it?"

[Toby]

"He tortured his last pray to death" I say vaguely "it's my fault I should have  kept a closer eye on things. Ill do better next time."

[Jamie D'vart]

"it's fine," he whispers. "I... Dad. I'm a... I'm a monster." His eyes well up with tears. 

[Acutis D'Vart]

Acutis gave a long breath. And another one. "You're...that's not entirely true. While you're not exactly human, that isn't something that makes you a monster." He moved closer to Jamie, putting a hand on the boy's shoulder. "Why don't you tell me why you think you're a monster."

[Jamie D'vart]

"I cut--- I cut someone's eye out," he manages. 

[Acutis D'Vart]

"...huh. Bit more intense than I would have thought. And I can see why that might make you feel like shit. But you're not....weyll did you do that?"
