Aldrea Borealis Dragontamer

Something was definitely fishy.

First of all, Aldrea Dragontamer -- known as "Al" to her friends -- had taken a vacation. Al never took time off. She had a distressing habit of coming to work sick, despite the dangers to the other employees. She was a hard worker, putting in extra hours with a smile, always the first to roll out of bed in the middle of the night when a guest was having a problem. "I was up anyway," she would often say with a tired smile, blaming her sleeplessness on her kid, Kit. But now she was taking a vacation. An unprompted vacation. And she had left Kit behind, asking Kitty to watch her while Al was gone.

(Kit was somewhere around 5. Kit would be somewhere around 5 for the next fifty years or so. It's complicated.)

Kitty was working the basement shift, watching the dimensional portal for new arrivals. She sat behind a reception desk, playing solitaire on the computer, while Kit sat on the marble floor playing with dinosaur toys. The portal, usually a small twinkle in the air, nearly imperceptible, pulsed, signaling a new arrival. There weren't any scheduled; that's hardly unusual, there are a large number of strangers who stumble upon the wrong door at the wrong time, and even more who just didn't have the courtesy to announce their arrival ahead of time. This was normal. But it did mean Kitty had to close her game of solitaire.

And she was winning, too.

The twinkle flew to the double-doors on the far end of the room, causing them to glow slightly in that odd, not-quite-a-real-color way that they do. Thinking about it too hard tends to make the head hurt, so it's best to just roll with it, let it wash over you. The doors opened, and Aldrea stood in the middle.

Aldrea had put on clothing appropriate to the world she was visiting: leather armor, fit perfectly to her so it wasn't from their costume room, with a symbol Kitty was unfamiliar with emblazoned on two of the buckles: a flower Kitty has never seen before, with a candle in front of it. Her rich brown hair tried its best to escape the ponytail she'd pulled it back into, and she was sweating a little, panting just a touch, as if she'd just been running. Her boots were dragon hide, a rich brown to match her leather armor, and she had a leather skirt over her leather trousers to feminize the outfit a bit. On her finger was a signet ring, marking her as nobility despite the lack of crown or tiara.

Behind her was a stranger. The stranger was apparently a woman, taller than Al but not by much. Her hair was a few shades lighter, almost a blonde-brown, and her eyes were lighter as well, hazel rather than the deep nearly black of Al's eyes. She wore a gown of green silk, three layers of ruffles over a small hoop, with a corset underneath to enhance her small bosom and pull in her waist. There was blood on one side of her gown, not a lot, but noticeable against the green, and she seemed exhausted, like she'd been running and also was less used to running than Al.

The pair stepped through the portal, Al's arm around the stranger's waist. Then the door shut, the glimmer returning to its starting position with a gesture from the long-practiced Aldrea. "Kitty," she says, exhaustion creeping into her voice. "May I present to you Elizabeth Borealis, crown princess of Gant."

Elizabeth dipped into an uncertain curtsey, clearly unsure how deeply to curtsey for this total stranger. Al continued her introduction: "Elizabeth, may I present Kagertok, owner and proprietor of this establishment. That makes her my boss. Also, uh," she manages, then emits a series of strange whistles and clicks that serve as a name in dragon baby-tongue. "We call her Kitten, or Kit for short. She's my, uh, my daughter."

Kitty

I turn to kit "go upstairs and see Mrs. Kia, I think she's got a snack for you."

Once she's left I turn back to Al and  raise my eye brow slightly "you wanna explain yer self Al? It's not like you to run off and come back with a princess, let alone a fugitive." My nose twitches "at least it ain't yer blood on er. We'd have to have a talk bout that ifin it were."

Elizabeth "Liz" Borealis

"Please forgive my intrusion," says Elizabeth, her voice light, airy, and with perfectly clear diction. "I had long been hoping to... ah, that is to say, I must impose upon your hospitality, but I have brought coin and jewelry with which to pay for your services, as I understand is the custom in these lands?" She reaches to a small pouch at her waist, but Al puts her hand over Elizabeth's to stop her.

Aldrea Borealis Dragontamer

"We'll settle up later," Al says, firmly. "Sorry, I didn't know for sure she would need to be rescued, but... well, here we are."

Kitty

"That ain't an explanation Al, now you're gonna give me one and you ain't gonna leave nothing out cause Im getting the feelin the folk might be fixin to undo whatever it is you did and if I have to fight who ever or wat Evers commit out that door you better tell me now!" I glare at her. Als been here for the better part of a decade and I love her but she's hard headed.

Aldrea Borealis Dragontamer

"It's fine. I made sure we got away clean," begins Al.

Kitty

I raise my eye brow at her "two" I say low and slow

Aldrea Borealis Dragontamer

Aldrea flinches again. "Fine, fine! She's my sister," she says, her tone a bit softer. "I promised I'd come back for her one day, and now that I've got that new promotion, I can support her. She can be free. Okay?"

Kitty

I nod "thank you." I say gently I turn to Elizabeth "welcome to earth, to the human plain. I'm Kagertok but you can call me kitty. I run this here place it's a safe haven for folk from all over. So long as you're under my roof ain't no one gonna hurt you. Ifin you need something feel free to give me a shout. Al I'm sure will get you settled in and acclimated. The only thing you really need to be aware of it the top floor is off limits to anyone what ain't got one of these" I flash a beaded poppy keychain "it's native spirits only understand. So long as you leave 5hat be you're fine by me. Get her settled Al." I say dismissing her and heading back to my computer

Elizabeth "Liz" Borealis

"Thank you," says Elizabeth, as she rises from her curtsey. "I appreciate your hospitality, Your Majesty."

Aldrea Borealis Dragontamer

"OH-kay, yeah, let's get you upstairs and into some jeans. You'll love them, they're way comfortable. Much more comfortable than all this shit. Anyway. Good seeing you, Kitty, come on let's go." So saying, Al ushers Elizabeth up towards the lift, deciding the newness was worth the speed factor.

Viper

It's been a long night what part of don't touch the dancers is so fucking hard?! I sigh shifting the weight on my heels. I didn't bother changing at the end of my shift so I'm still in a leather bikini 8 in dagger heels, body chain, and leather collar. I look good ears pirced all the way up on the right ear and halfway on the left. Bellybutton pirced too. A black viper Tatto runs up my spine.

The lift dings and the doors open. "Hey Al, who's the chick? New hook up? Figured you'd go for leather over lace but I can't fault you." I grin getting in with them and leaning agents the wall as the doors close.
