Kōsetsu "Sue"

Kōsetsu had been hanging back, trying to stay as far away from the melting heat as she could. Look it's not her that will melt, but try telling that to her instincts! She once more curses her grandmother's influence as she forces herself to step forward and examine the boiling cauldron.

"Too many flakes, colors too green now. need to add some yellow to balance.... Eye of Newt would work, five grains should do the trick, with a splash of winter snow extract to cool it back to the right shade. What do you think, Deitha?"

She seems confident, even if what she's saying goes completely against what the book says should be done in this case. Granted the book just says to start from scratch, so maybe if they can save it? It would certainly be faster.

Deitha Albron

Deitha frowned thoughtfully... "It should be OK, and I'd really rather not start from scratch, again..."

One grain... two grains... three grains... four gr-- and a sort of thud happened in the cauldron. Like an explosion noise that didn't really have enough oomph behind it.

Kōsetsu "Sue"

"I don't think it was supposed to do that." Is the reaction from Kōsetsu, who had dived behind a nearby bookcase at the sound of the alchemical reaction. Quite a sensible instinct that one, clearly that one came from her fathers side of the family.

Deitha Albron

"It definitely wasn't supposed to do that. Did we do it wrong again? We followed all the instructions exactly!"

Jill "Kenzie" Mackenzie

Kenzie ducks behind the table, as if hiding from the cauldron.

That little black furry nose reappears, however, and with it, the rest of the rat's head. "Alright, alright, sheesh. I get it. You don't need to burn your hand off to get my help you know." The voice is completely at odds with the appearance of the rat: it's a small, cute, black animal, while the voice sounds like it belongs to a 60-year-old chain-smoking male.

Kōsetsu "Sue"

Kōsetsu peeks out from hiding to locate the source of the voice.... That wasn't the teacher, nor was it one of her.... friends? acquantences? rivals? ... probably not that last one....
