Andreas Amell

"Huh? Oh, because in that scenario it would be Mother that would be... Right."
Oh cruel gods, why have you hidden my muse so?

Helene Dakesh

"I meant because you are somewhat close to them. It is... painful to lose someone close to you."
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Andreas Amell

"Oh. Right. Yeah... I suppose the worst 'loss' I've suffered so far, that I was, you know, old enough to realize," he clarifies quickly, "was when Tammy moved to Draslina." Wow. I've not thought of her in years, he realizes, feeling yet another pang of guilt at the realization of how distant memories of his once best friend have become. Granted, I wasn't even ten yet but still.

Helene nods. "And you know she is well, simply distant. You could find her again, if you tried hard enough. Death is different."
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Andreas Amell

"Nearly most of the time you mean," Andreas replies, then winces a little at the glib words.

Helene Dakesh

"It is true, the gods see fit to give us back our loved ones... sometimes. And those times are as precious as they are rare, and should never be taken for granted."
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Andreas Amell

"Yes, Grandne," Andreas murmurs, tone repentant. "What... what should I do now?" he asks without pause, both wanting nir advice and also to move the conversation along.

Helene Dakesh

"Finish your dinner. Pack your things. Visit your father." Helene shrugs. "If you want to establish a relationship with Cadmus, time is of the essence."
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Andreas Amell

"That's probably wise, yes..." Ugh. I've no appetite whatsoever now though, he thinks, eyes drifting to the door again.

It's not long before he finds himself on Don's doorstep, hesitantly but firmly knocking on the door. To his surprise, a servant answers the door -- Varric doesn't hold with having too many servants around, as they comprise a security risk.

Andreas is shown to the parlor and served a small cup of coffee and a selection of biscotti to dunk in it, along with cream and sugar for his consumption. He's no sooner doctored his coffee than Adonis arrives, tail tip twitching with anxiety.

"Andreas Amell. A pleasure to host you here in my home. What can I do for you?"

Andreas Amell

"First, thank you for taking the time to speak with me. I have some idea of how busy a Light can be, so  I can also understand the honor of this time." He'd gone back and forth about how to approach this, unsure how he wanted to do it even past the servant setting down a beverage. But as soon as Adonis had walked into the room, his mind had gone blank and he found himself defaulting to the one plan he'd come up with that relies on the political protocol his Mother had instructed him in.

"Of course. Regardless of my relationship to your mother, you are merikos Catfolk, born and raised in Nyra, and that makes you one of our people. Therefore, your wellbeing is my responsibility as much as it is Miki's."

Andreas Amell

"Oh," Andreas says, almost dazed by the simple, earnest response. "That's... thank you," he manages in a quiet voice. "I... Grandfather taught me-- taught all of us, the grandkids-- about our various heritages but I never... I never really felt a connection? It's almost stranger to think of it really, being a catfolk. I think of myself as part of Clan Tethras first, an artist second... and third probably, if I'm being honest. Nyran, after that, if anything. But..."

He doesn't flinch, but his ear flicks, once -- a sign of guilt, perhaps? Or anger? His face remains smooth. "I see. You have that right, of course."

Andreas Amell

Realizing that he fumbled his conclusion there, Andreas quickly adds, "but I would like to. To learn about..." He gestures around them. "This side of me?"
