Go Down

GamesMaster

He shakes his head, opening a loose seam in the back of his dragon to pull out a rolled-up page of scribbled notes. He offers it silently -- the concepts are in use mostly correctly, but he just can't seem to get them to mesh just right for the hardest problem.

Varric

Varric looks it over, head nodding a little, then he lets out a soft whistle. "I was impressed from the start, but doubly so now that I now it's you. Coming up with all this without having gotten actual lessons on the bulk of it is really impressive, Silas." Little worried he's got a secret hiding spot (decent one too) for it though.

GamesMaster

Silas nods, gravely. "I didn't get it," he says, pointing to the paper.

Varric

"That's okay," he assures the young boy. "I'm happy to teach you, if you want. Or, if you just want hints, we can do it that way."

GamesMaster

He nods, a determined look coming across his little face -- one he's seen before, when watching the kiddo try to learn to walk, or feed himself. "Yes. Teach me."

Varric

Varric nods gravely, careful to treat this entire thing with due dignity. "What brought this on anyway?" he asks as he fetches a slate and some chalk for them to work with.

GamesMaster

"Toma" (Tomas; Silas refuses to pronounce the 's' because he hates how he lisps it) "had a book."

Varric

"A math book, I assume? And you read it and liked it?"

GamesMaster

Silas bites his lower lip. "Maybe."

Varric

"Maybe?" How does that work?

GamesMaster

"Maybe was maths. Maybe not."

Varric

Ah. "What was it about? Or do you remember what the title was?"

GamesMaster

"...forgot," he lies, looking askance.

GamesMaster

Silas fidgets in his seat, squirming uncomfortably, but refuses to take the lie back.
