Stone's Throw

[Diligence]

A smile flickers on Dil's snout. "No, I'm Diligence. Did you forget somehow?"

[Charon Tethras]

Charon snorts, though he rolls his eyes. "Silly."

[Diligence]

"Yeah, forgetting your brother's name would be silly," Dil agrees somberly.

[Charon Tethras]

He rolls his eyes again. "Gods above, Dill!"

[Diligence]

"Oh praise be, you remember me!" 

He can't hold his laughter after that line, falling into a fit of giggles and snorts.

[Charon Tethras]

Charon punches his shoulder, though  not very hard. "Dumbass."

[Diligence]

Still snickering, Dil staggers then gives himself a vigorous shake. "Right. Supplies. Yes." He pauses, humming. "Civil punishments are effectively suspended, right?" he then asks in a slow, contemplative fashion.

[Charon Tethras]

"Yeah, why?"

[Diligence]

"A pair of magic users would be more likely to be hired, right? And have better prospects later on?"

[Charon Tethras]

Charon hesitates, tail swaying. "Well... yes, but only if we can do something useful..."

[Diligence]

Dil nods, having already had that same thought. "So we'd need supplies of that nature too. Reagents, foci, text and such? Like the ones at the school?"

[Charon Tethras]

"And we can perhaps hire on as apprentice necromancers. Well. That would require," and here he makes a face, adding, "moving to It's area. Well. Or perhaps Nyra? Nyra likes mages of all sorts."

[Diligence]

"What's Nyra?" Dil asks blankly. Aside from necromancy and magic in general, the only subjects Dil ever really pays any attention to are Valshathe's dogma (out of necessity) and what little biology is taught. "And why would we have to go there?"

[Charon Tethras]

"Well here they  know we'er underage. Nyra won't have records from here. Nyra's a whole other City."

[Diligence]

"That makes sense," Dil decides after a moment. "Huh. Actually... when do I come of age? I never got a straight answer on that from school. Just that it could be fifteen like goblins or seventeen like normal people?" 

There's clearly no prejudice baked into the lessons they've gotten. Clearly.
