Stone's Throw

Sami guides them into a group of people in bright colors walking together. The man leading them is walking backwards, a drum around his neck that he is playing intricate patterns on as they go. They pick up a song, singing gaily; their clothes are flowy and sheer, even the men, and in bright colors. A few have intricate tattoos, and others are dancing a little as they walk.

Andreas Amell

Andreas has no talent for performance, much to many a teacher's dismay, but he can still appreciate the skill and passion being shown. And... "I've not yet tried my hand at fashion design," he muses, mind a thousand leagues away from any petty concerns like crowds, blocking the flow of said crowds or the fact that he very much appears to be leering at one dancer's incredibly detailed shawl... which just happens to be draped over their ass.
Oh cruel gods, why have you hidden my muse so?

The dancer turns, grinning, over their shoulder. "Oh, it's great fun. I designed that shawl myself. You should come by the shop sometime and try it."

Andreas Amell

"Did you really?" Andreas asks, perking up. His eyes flick up to their face for a few seconds before he's right back to trying to figure out... "Is that layers woven together or all spun as one piece?" he nearly demands.

"Layers, but we buy special wool that's thinner so it doesn't show so much," they say with a grin. "You an artist?"

Andreas Amell

"An artisan," Andreas corrects them with a smile. "Most recently I've been trying stone sculpting, but..." He sighs deeply, the very picture of (pampered) artistic suffering. "Shadows and smoke, no true passion could I find there."

"You should hang out with us. We're renting this big house together in Lily, so we can focus on art in a collaborative, restorative space."

Next to him, Sami seems to have struck up a conversation with someone else -- and he's currently taking a puff of Devilweed.

Andreas Amell

"One moment," Andreas says with a charming smile. Without losing that expression in the slightest, he dips a hand into his pocket, locates one of dozens of small chips of stone he inevitably collects during sculpting, and flicks it with rather decent aim at his cousin's back. It goes a bit high, more towards his neck than back, but not bad for someone who hasn't actually worked on such skills.

"Collaborative and restorative you say? How so?"

"We don't really recognize the laws of Nyra or the legitimacy of the Guard. Instead, we all keep covenant with each other, to be kind and build community care for each other."

Dreas blinks a few times, head cocked to the side. "So... like Cat Town? Well, a more, ah, more Astean Cat Town?"

"Nothing so large or formal," they laugh. "Just like-minded teens and adults, working and living in community."

Andreas Amell

"I see... Teens and adults? So it's... family inclusive, I suppose fits my query well enough."

"What, do you need a place to stay?" they ask, grinning. "I'd love to show you my loom."

Andreas Amell

Dreas stares a moment, then laughs. He doesn't mean to, he just can't help but laugh at the idea of not having a place to stay. Mom's house, Grandpa's house, other mom's house, Carver's place, my art studio, Aunt Shannon's, Don's place, Aunt Marian's apartment... Or any of the dozens of places Grandpa or Aunt Shannon own. "Sorry," he says as soon as he can talk past his laughter. "Not-- I have a very large family, a place to live isn't hard to come by. It's more the company you describe that intrigues me."

The dancer laughs, doing a small pirouette. "There's been nothing like the residency for my art. I was stuck on a plateau, but especially being around drag artists has spurred me to new heights."
