Diligence

"I'd want you," Dil says rapidly. "I can be bad with words sometimes and you understand me so you can understand for them for me."
All I really want from life is a cozy den, my real family, good food
and a couple dozen skeleton servants.

Dog

Realizing any offer or show of comfort from himself would only scare the small reptile boy, Dog gently pushes Joy up and over to her brother.

Joy lifts Dil up easily and settles into his spot, pulling him into her lap.

Charon Tethras

Charon smiles. "Yeah, okay."

Diligence

Dil squawks in protest, but everyone in the room can tell it's half-hearted at best. "Right, yeah, so, cool. Umm. What about catfolk?"
All I really want from life is a cozy den, my real family, good food
and a couple dozen skeleton servants.

Charon Tethras

"We met one today," protests Charon. "We know where to find catfolk."

Diligence

Dil gives Charon a flat look. "Char, he said less than thirty words to us and dumped us on someone else as soon as he could."
All I really want from life is a cozy den, my real family, good food
and a couple dozen skeleton servants.

Charon Tethras

"Well, sure, but that guy's a dick. I'm sure if I hang around more I can meet some non-dick catfolk."

Father Lelldorin

"There are a few merikos catfolk living here," Lelldorin observes politely.
I am lived long enough to know we are all in need of help. Even the gods.

Charon Tethras

He twitches, just a little, his tail's tip being more expressive than his face. "Are they more welcoming?"

Father Lelldorin

Father Lelldorin hums softly, then nods. "In most circumstances, yes. Most of them-- I won't specify who, that would be a breach of trust-- have had a great deal of hardship in their lives that makes it hard to trust. But Patchie and Nerios in particular enjoy meeting newcomers, especially 'fellow felines,' as they put it."

Charon Tethras

"I've had hardship too," he scowls. "I'm an orphan, after all. I don't even speak Cat."

Father Lelldorin

"Additional languages, written and spoken both, are among the lessons offered," Lelldorin says gently. "We have three or four students currently learning Catfolk, depending on whether Jovis is in town. He's apprenticed to a woodcutter and frequently takes several days to a fortnight length trips to the local forests."

Charon Tethras

"You teach Cat?" he asks, eyes lighting up. Then they go dim as he slouches. "I can't pay..."

Father Lelldorin

"Basic education, along with breakfast and a snack, are funded by the city," Lelldorin explains, clarifying his earlier comment. "In our case, our classes and lessons are more expanded than most thanks to grants from Alydra's church, hence our ability to given practical magic lessons and basic-- very basic-- spell theory."
