Andreas Amell

Andreas's eyes widen; he's met high priests and the like before, thanks to his family, but aside from Raplin (who is a rather unassuming deity for the most part), he's not had much exposure to divinity. Which, to be fair, is by far the norm. "Directly chosen?"
Oh cruel gods, why have you hidden my muse so?

GamesMaster

Adonis hedges a little. "Well, it's like this. The Keeper is Bharnerol's hands on this plane. So when the Keeper chooses the next Keeper, that is Bharnerol's choice. But if there is a problem or a mistake, Bharnerol will make his displeasure clear, and show the Tribe that the Keeper is disfavored."

Andreas Amell

"Ah! So the current Keeper selects the incoming Keeper? How is that done?" Andreas asks curiously. It can't be a lifetime appointment, given that Gran-- the previous Keeper is still alive.
Oh cruel gods, why have you hidden my muse so?

GamesMaster

"Generally one is selected while young, trained for years, and then the old Keeper can retire."

Andreas Amell

"Does Mi-- ah, Keeper Miki have an apprentice?" It's strange, thinking of that bombastic and somewhat goofy man that tutored me being the local High Priest of a racial deity. Huh. I wonder if that means Bharnerol is more playful and out-going than one might assume from most encounters with the local catfolk?
Oh cruel gods, why have you hidden my muse so?

GamesMaster

"Not yet. I have urged him to take one on. He, in turn, has urged me to adopt." Adonis makes a face. "Sadly, my position is truly hereditary, and adopting a non-blood-related child would-- you probably don't care about my troubles, my apologies."

Andreas Amell

Eyes wide, Andreas blurts out, "no, no, go on. It seems very relevant and, umm, significant?"
Oh cruel gods, why have you hidden my muse so?

GamesMaster

"Well, only my biological child or nibling is certain to be accepted as my heir, due to the fact that my seat is a Founder seat. Only, I cannot sire more children. So, my heir will have to be one of my sister's kits. Only, she has no kits at present. Were I to die tomorrow, she herself would take the seat, and were she to perish with me... father? Perhaps? Father has no siblings. Research would have to be done."

Andreas Amell

"Umm. If it's just based on biology..." Andreas says awkwardly, then makes an even more awkward gesture at himself.
Oh cruel gods, why have you hidden my muse so?

GamesMaster

"It would have to be a child in both senses of the word -- both claimed and blood. Otherwise I would have been training you as my heir. I knew I was giving that up when I let your mother lay claim to you."

Andreas Amell

"Oh. Okay," Andreas says, looking and sounding more relieved than anything else. "Right then. So. Neither of you have heirs. Or apprentices, whatever."
Oh cruel gods, why have you hidden my muse so?

GamesMaster

"Correct. And we are such old friends that we joke with each other about it." Adonis smiles despite himself.

Andreas Amell

"Sounds a little like Grandpa and zi'Huntinghawk," Andreas comments, head bobbing. "None of the Clan has really shown any interest or skill at finance or mercantilism."
Oh cruel gods, why have you hidden my muse so?

GamesMaster

His eyes narrow slightly. "Yes," is all he says, though his tail tip twitches.

Andreas Amell

What did I say? "Umm. Right, anyway. Wow, we kind of got to wandering a little, huh?" He chuckles nervously. "How is... how your father doing?"
Oh cruel gods, why have you hidden my muse so?
