Diligence

"Huh. Yeah, I guess that would do-- wait, you got to see a ritual? A real, non-necromantic ritual?" Dil's tail starts to flick back and forth rapidly and his eyes are locked on Charon's face. "Tell me everything," he demands/pleads.

Charon Tethras

"I mean, it was all in Celestial, but don't you see? I might be the son of someone rich after all!"

Diligence

"Yes yes but that's tomorrow stuff. Ritual please?" Dil's eyes widen even more slowly appearing to be the majority of his face.

Charon Tethras

"Fine, fine. But eat while I tell it," he pushes, taking a seat. "Oh, and we're going out to lunch so you can meet this guy day after tomorrow."

Diligence

Glancing at his sister, already poking into the bag of food, and nods. "Yeah, that's probably a good idea. And, uh, sorry about..." He coughs softly. "So, blood family? That's wow."

Charon Tethras

"Rich blood family. Here, let me tell the whole story. So we'd just had dinner at the temple..."

He runs through the details, being careful to describe as much of the ritual as he understood. Finally, he concludes with, "so yeah, we're gonna meet him again day after tomorrow. AND he promised we could go to that barbeque place."

Diligence

"Woah. That's a-- Joy, gross! Here take this-- that's amazing, Charon." Dil glares at his sister as he hands a strip of cloth so she can wipe her mouth. After using it to wipe the spots of drool off his shoulder. "We should visit the library tomorrow, see what we can find out about this 'Amell' family."

Charon Tethras

"Absolutely. Maybe ask Father L about them too."

Diligence

"Did he, uh, did Andris? Mention what his grandfather's name was? Or what he did to be a Light?"

Charon Tethras

"No, but it's bound to be Amell, right?"

Diligence

Dil shrugs, tongue flicking out uncertainly. "I dunno. Last names are weird," he says. "Not like any of us have last names. Or... huh. I guess you do have one after all..."

Charon Tethras

"True. I guess it's zi'something. They're always zi'something. But it's probably just zi'amell."

Diligence

"Well, it shouldn't be too hard, I guess, even if it's not. I mean, there's only like..." He bobs his head, thinking. "Thirty... something of them? Thirty... three maybe? No, wait, it was prime, I think. So, uh, thirty-one or thirty-seven."

Charon Tethras

"Whatever. I just want the money so we can get a little place of our own. I know who my real brother is." He flashes Dil a smile.

Diligence

"You can have more than one brother, Charon," Dil says gently, eyes squinting in the way Charon has come to know as how kobolds show happiness or affection. They don't really have lips after all and trying to smile invokes a very different reaction to most mammals. "I reserve the right to test him though; you deserve good brothers. Like me."
