Stone's Throw

[Charon Tethras]

"Be out soon!" he calls, still toweling off. If I were a spy, it'd be real easy to poke around, find some things out. He's almost tempted to, just so he feels less lost. But no, that'd be an invasion of privacy. 

[Aveline Vallen]

When he exited the bathroom, it's to find a remorseful looking mabari laying in the hallway. The source of her shame was obvious; she was now wearing a cape/vest of sorts that says 'shameless mooch' on it. With a heavy sigh, she hoisted herself to her feet and starts heading down the hallway, towards a door that she pushed open to show a glimpse of sunlight. 

After he followed Beka outside, he was able to quickly spot Aveline and the shorter but just as solidly built man that must be his uncle. Aveline was reclining in a lounger, but shifted over to the side to allow Carver to sit on the edge and lean against her. Both noticed his arrival, but Aveline finished whatever she was murmuring as she gave him a wave.

[Carver Amell]

"Hey sport," calls Carver, sounding tired but pleased. "Come sit with your old uncle a minute. I wanted to ask you something."

[Charon Tethras]

Charon trotted over, rubbing the back of his neck. "Hey. I had a question for you too."

[Aveline Vallen]

Having sensed an opening, Beka slinked over to the couple, to the side of the lounger opposite Carver. Once Charon approached, she carefully started to climb up to cuddle atop her person. Obviously, this was about as stealthy as a wagon on cobblestones, but she seemed so very earnest about her tactics.

[Carver Amell]

Carver pats the spot beside him. "Well, I'll go first, but I'll be quick: I know you're not much for games and such but a buddy of mine's kid's kickball team is one down, and they need a full roster to stay in the season. It'd be swell if you could pinch in, just for the rest of the season. I promise, I'll do whatever seems like a fair reward after each game."

[Charon Tethras]

Charon blinks. "What? Um, sure, but I'd need a refresher on the rules."

[Aveline Vallen]

"Hold on," Aveline cut in, then gives Beka a pat. "Not you baby girl, come on up. Which friend and what age group?"

[Carver Amell]

"You remember Little Johnny? He's on the roster in Scrolls now. His kid. I forget his name... Anthony? Adrian? Something like that. He's Dreas's age, almost."

[Aveline Vallen]

"And this is a hobbyist league?" 

[Carver Amell]

"Yeah, just a kid's league. Not attached to one of the universities or anything. They play once or twice a fortnight."

[Aveline Vallen]

"Ah, good. That does sound like it could be fun," Aveline agreed. Beka groaned softly as she stretches into her person's fingers, eyes closed in bliss. "Dreas?"

[Charon Tethras]

"Well like I said, I forgot the rules, but I'm pretty fast, so sure, why not."

[Aveline Vallen]

"I'm sure your Uncle would be thrilled to go over them all for you."

[Carver Amell]

Carver grins, leaning forward. "Okay, so there's eleven to a side, right..."
