Stone's Throw

[Adonis Naodi]

Hunter starts growling before the figure gets to the door -- unusual, given he doesn't so much as stir when door-to-door marketers come by. The good old boy is middle-aged now, and his joints are starting to give, thanks in part due to the large amount of treats his owner has given him over the years. He's a pretty laid-back dog these days, yet his growl is deep and menacing. 

When Adonis zi'Naodi knocks on the door, Carver is shocked beyond recognition. "Adonis," he finally says, swallowing. "What's...?"

"Can you and your wife come with me? There's a problem with Andreas." 

Carver calls over his shoulder, without taking his eyes off Adonis, "Avi? I think you'd better come see this."

[Aveline Vallen]

"Just a moment," Aveline called out from the back of the house. "What hat?" Which was code for whether he needs his wife, a guard, a paladin or just an adult. 

[Carver Amell]

"Lina, I think," he calls back. It'd be Captain Vallen if he needed a full-on guard captain, or Bright's Vallen if he needed a paladin. "At least, I'd better not need Bright's Vallen," he warns in a low voice for Adonis alone. "If you've hurt my nephew..."

[Adonis Naodi]

Adonis winces. "Yes, I would like to avoid bringing the Guard in. This is an internal matter, no need for city involvement."

[Aveline Vallen]

"I hate that phrase," Aveline commented as she came to the door leading further into the house. She studied Adonis for a moment, then shifted her gaze to the back of her husband's head. "Sweetie, why is a guest standing outside our door?" Ah, shit, that's the 'you're being rude' voice.

[Carver Amell]

Carver rubs the back of his head. "He said we're going with him, I just figured...." Sighing, he grabs his coat. "Do you want some tea before we go or?" 

[Adonis Naodi]

"No, thank you." Adonis gives a small, respectful nod to Aveline, then turns to lead them, tail tip twitching. 

[Carver Amell]

Carver gestures to the tail as he starts to go after Adonis, then gives Aveline a meaningful look. That tail... this is upsetting him. Quite a lot. 

[Aveline Vallen]

Aveline rolled her eyes at the two men, slipping away for a moment to get some sandals and a hair tie. She didn't mind having her hair loose around the house-- especially given how nice it can be to feel Carver's eyes following the way it moves around-- but going out is another story. Especially given that it's a little windy out today. She caught up to them quickly enough, asking, "where are we going?"

[Adonis Naodi]

"My residence. The Keeper is already within, with the boy."

[Carver Amell]

'The boy' mouths Carver, gritting his teeth. Your son that you abandoned, you mean?

[Aveline Vallen]

"You could at least use his name," Aveline pointed out far more evenly than Carver would be able to manage. She also reached out to rest her hand on the crook of her love's arm.

[Adonis Naodi]

"He is in serious trouble, you understand. This is a serious charge the Keeper is investigating."

[Aveline Vallen]

The resting hand turned into an iron grip before Carver can even think of reacting... strongly. "Explain. Please," Aveline ordered, just barely managing to keep it from being an outright demand.

[Adonis Naodi]

"He went into his first heat while staying at my house, and assaulted... someone." He doesn't mean to be dramatic, but he doesn't know if he should share the details.
