The Black Dirge [Sci-fi]

"A little bit, maybe." Zee admits calming down somewhat "But one with your best interests at heart."

She hides in silence for a little bit, then pokes her head out, "Hey... why... do you care so much? I'm... sure you have... other things more worth your time..."

"Well the simplest answer is i was told to care. Shin placed you into my care, and that is a task i take considerable pride in being good at. But there's more to it than that of course." She would NOT admit that she thought Kimiko was cute, not only would that be practically robbing the cradle, but the girl was in no mental position for that sort of admission! "You pose a challenge to me, Most people i train to use their bodies have been either more fit than you are, soldiers who are training to become the best they can be, or paras and quads such as myself whom i trained to use their prosthetics, and to adjust to being a mezz. Most of then didn't choose to be augmented and that transition can be a rough one, particularly after a traumatic experience. neither of these conditions apply to yourself, You're young, but terribly weak, yet because of your youth you have far more potential than most of the soldiers i have trained."

Zee pauses for a moment. no, don't admit the cute. even if she is adorable with that stuffed..... something. Zee hadn't gotten a good look at the item, but whatever it was Kimiko looks adorable wit it.....

"And then there's..... My own memories.  Your words... They echo ones i heard once before, Things ended badly then, I don't want the same end to happen again." Zee's voice changes, it's a little husky, as if she's fighting back tears from the remembering.

"..." Kimiko notices the change in her voice and how she's trying hard to have a fixed expression. She noticed because she herself has done that more times than she could possibly count. She sets Yukki aside, slipping out from under the blanket, and while her legs doth protest, she sits down next to Zee and takes her hand. "It's okay," she says with a reassuring smile, her hair falling cutely over her ears. "It's okay," she repeats, her small hands holding Zee's.

Zee takes her hands out of Kimiko's quickly enough. she probably couldn't have controlled herself otherwise. Fuck, but that girl reminds her of Terry. The similarities tug at heart strings that she had thought were dead and cauterized long ago, back when she was barely older than Kimiko is now.... Well, maybe a bit older than that. certainly when she was closer to Kimiko's age than her own anyway. Look, the point is Zee's too damn old for Kimiko, and even if she wasn't.... Terry..... Why?

"No. It wasn't okay, not then. And nothing will ever bring those days back. But this time, in this place. You can choose for things to be different."

"Umm... I don't know what you mean... but okay..." She crawls a foot or two and retrieves Yukki, then returns to Zee, "Umm... if you're feeling bad... you can hug Yukki. But you have to give him back, okay?" She holds out the stuffed bear to Zee. The girl acts a lot younger than she actually is... maybe it's because she didn't really have a proper childhood? Or maybe her mental age just hasn't caught up? In any case, wow, she's practically bleeding cuteness.

Zee holds Yuki for a long moment, looking at the bear from several angles before handing it back with a strange smile. "Terry had a bear just like Yuki here, only in tan with a little aviator's cap on. She called it.... Beary McBearington."

Kimiko snerks, "What a strange name..." she hugs Yukki, and returns to her bed with a little effort. Zee gets a good look at her curves in the process. "S-So... ummm... what should I do now...? I... can't really sleep... I'm not tired... I just hurt, well... everywhere, ahaha..." She smiles like it's just a big old joke.

Zee rummages around in her medical bag for a moment, bringing out a couple of tablets.

"well for starters, take these. the pink one's a mild stimulant that will help you heal a bit faster, and the other one is an analgesic, that's to stop the basic all over aches you'r bound to have after working out. both are quite mild so you shouldn't have any side effects and they won't numb the pain too much, other than an increased appetite. After that, get back in bed. I'll go grab you some food, and some reading material. now that we have a rough idea how your powers work it's time to do some research!".

"Aches...? Oh... so that's what that feeling was..." she nods, turning back towards Zee, having already gotten back in bed, "Um... I... don't really want to... get up right now..." She looks a bit embarrassed, blushing. Is it really that hard to ask for help? Well, maybe for her.

Zee smiles, dropping the pills in Kimiko's hand before moving to leave the room. "i'll be back shortly." she says as she reaches out to open the door.

The girl chews up the pills and swallows. Blech, gross. Well she wasn't given any water anyways. Oh well! She lays back in bed with Yukki, waiting for Zee to return~

Zee exits the room quietly and closes the door behind her, fully expecting someone to have been curious enough to be waiting outside wanting details, Shin's the most likely one to want a status update Zee figures, but the others could be there as well.

Morden was on their way back from carrying the refuse to the designated spot. The boxes weren't THAT much of a problem, but if someone (Shinigami) decided they needed to talk about something, there'd be a lot more trouble with boxes in the way. They give Zee a bit of a wave, having forgone the gloves they'd been wearing for the last few days. "Hey Zee. How's the new girl?"

Zee blinks, Morden was not the person she was expecting. Well, he did ask a question.

"It'll be a long road, but she's got a hell of a gift. If she can properly control it, it will be a huge asset."
