The Black Dirge [Sci-fi]

Shinigami grins a dark grin, showing her teeth. "This is a teamwork exercise. You can do as you like, but only Ophiocordyceps can touch the flag. The briefing is that it's some sort of cyber bomb that cannot be moved unless Cordy here uses his abilities on it." She'd tested her new toy as much as possible, and determined it would -- probably -- work just fine for this.

"Zee, you're taking point on this." Zee was Shinigami's usual choice for the team leader should she become incapacitated or otherwise be rendered unable to lead a mission, though sometimes she'd been known to give that role to Sigma. The pair of them had been on her squad the longest, with Marbles the next, and Cordy only just this week being promoted from being the greenest member of the team by the arrival of Kimiko. Sigma had been with Black Dirge longer than Zee, but Zee was assigned to Shinigami's cell as soon as it was formed, with Sigma transferring in when his previous cell got itself dissolved.

"Understood. What intel do we have from the snoops on this one?" Zee asks, throwing a salute. This may be an exercise, but she's gonna treat it like the real thing.

[Hitoshirenu Shourai]

Kimiko kinda just stands there in silence, listening intently. What was she supposed to even do...?

"The place was bombed recently by The Iron Dragon, and we think one of the bombs may have a malfunctioning transmitter. This is valuable technology we can reverse-engineer, but it's still live, just waiting for one of the failsafes to set it off. It's a night mission, and the landscape is hostile, and may be booby trapped. Proceed with caution and speed -- we have thirty minutes from when you enter the room before a drone will sweep the area and catch you."

Despite listening intently, Kimiko is quite confused. Iron Dragon? Bombs? A drone? What does any of that have to do with a flag...?

Morden blinked a couple of times. "Wait, so I have to shock myself from the moment we grab it till the mission's over?" They were QUITE aware that having to use their powers on anything electronic would probably be painful, especially if it worked like a touch screen...well, at least it felt like being constantly shocked.

"Only when you move it. If it's stationary, it'll be fine." Shinigami smirk. "Probably. It is a bomb, after all."

[Hitoshirenu Shourai]

"U-Um..." Kimiko raises her hand a bit, deciding to speak up, "I-If you want, I could try making it hurt less..." clearly directed at Morden.

"Wait...how can you do that?" Morden sounded a little dubious at the notion, though it didn't seem personal to him. More like they doubted that could actually happen.

[Hitoshirenu Shourai]

"Um... I just... can?" She scratched her head, frowning at not being able to explain. "Ummm... I can take away pain... and injuries... and even illnesses... that's what my power is." She didn't explain the side effects, though...

Morden took a bit of time to look Kimiko over a little more carefully. They seemed to find...whatever it was they were looking for before giving a nod. "Well, that sounds convenient. Something REAL crap must have happened to you."

"Huh?" She cocks her head to the side, looking a bit confused. Oh, well, as long as he... she... they, understand, then that's good.

Morden gave a shrug. "That's how it is. If you're here and have powers, something shit happened to you and you got them. The worse the shit that happened, the better the powers you get. Least that's as far as anyone actually knows."

[Hitoshirenu Shourai]

"Well... I guess... but... I was always sickly... so I think I've technically... always had them? I'm still figuring things out, ahaha..." Kimiko looks embarrassed, fidgeting a bit.

That got an odd look. "What? So you're saying you didn't have a trigger event? That's bull." They looked a little more annoyed before sighing. "But hey, that's your damage, and none of my business."
