Go Down

CalamityJade

~...Right. You probably won't want all the rest of this once you find your dad.~ There was a pause. ~Still, better than having no idea where I am or what I am, so no skin off...huh. That doesn't actually work for me, huh?~

yamikuronue

~Not that.~ She sighs. ~I'm probably not going to... even if we do find him, it's not like I can go home.~

CalamityJade

~So what? You think I'm gonna up and leave just because we find your dad or something?~

yamikuronue

~No, but...~ She sighs, leaning against a wall beside a corner market. ~Look. I don't know how much you remember about humans, but you realize most of them have homes, right? And you've seen what happens to people who don't fit in around here.~

CalamityJade

~....right. If you are really Unwelcome, then the City would get rid of you.~ there's a feeling of uncertainty before he starts again. ~I actually figured you lived in the City as a whole instead of...oh...so you woudn't have a lot of choices.~

yamikuronue

~Yeah. So I'm not looking at a long, happy life here, unless I can find some way to leave permanently.~

CalamityJade

~...do you even know what it looks like beyond the walls of the city?~ She would probably remember that odd dream of a beach and then some kinda farm land...still no clue who THAT belonged to.

yamikuronue

She recalls a theatre, the dim basements lit by gas lights, the smell of greasepaint; she recalls an open-air market, where she didn't have much money but sometimes people would sneak her candies as she ran about underfoot. She remembers a big shaggy dog, not hers, but friendly and obliging of her games.

~Yeah. I grew up out there.~

CalamityJade

~...do you miss it?~

yamikuronue

~Yeah.~ She sighs. ~I didn't fit in there, either. I'm used to not fitting in. But... I had a home, and food. I could be a kid, you know?~

CalamityJade

~I guess that makes sense...or it just makes sense to you.~ And there was a bit of an akward feeling as the silence got a bit long. ~You know what? Probably should work on one problem at a time, right? Take care of the important stuff before we worry about what happens afterwards.~

yamikuronue

~Yeah. Let's get back to Rob's office.~

CalamityJade

Meanwhile, back a couple of hours, Rob had some time and a lot of questions...and hopefully Mordrianna would be able to answer them for him. She should still be in the hospital, as the police would probably have their own barrage of questions for the Fatespinner. Maybe now was the best time to start solving some of the questions rather than adding to them.

Hammer Sister

Rob didn't find it too difficult to get into the hospital and to Mordriana's room; some of the hospital staff were a little recalcitrant at first, but as soon as Rob revealed his GRD-assigned credentials, they were a lot more co-operative. And soon, he finds himself face-to-face with the Fatespinner herself.

"Good afternoon, Madame Mordriana," Rob greets as he enters the room. "I'm glad to see you're well. Allow me to introduce myself: my name's Rob McCarthey, and I'm working with the GRD, investigating the attempt to kidnap you. Would you be willing to answer a few questions?"

And then the murders began.

CalamityJade

Mordrianna was sitting up in her hospital bed and gave a nod. "Good afternoon, detective." She gave something of a smile. "I see much has changed in the brief time since we met before."
