Nathaniel nods, trying to quell the heaving sensation in his stomach. That has to be the pain medication, right? he thinks to himself, trying to cheer himself up. There's nothing to be nervous about....

The woman gave a bit of a smile as she laid out some food. She seemed a rather unstriking woman in her thirtys exept for the flaming red hair. Which wasn't something you saw in the city at all, really. "No need sweating it. I know the food ain't tops but it'll keep ya healthy." She looks around at the flowers and cards. "Well, ain't ya a popular one. Most folk have maybe one or two little things from visitors."

He nods, lowering his head to hide in his curtain of auburn hair. "Many of them are from patrons of the company."

[CalamityJade]

"Oh, you a company man....seem a bit too pretty in the face for that." She chuckled as she looked him over, obviously checking his vitals. "Like the hair tho. Never a fan of the short hair look. Makes all the men look all gruff."

He smiles, benignly. "My ballet company. I'm a dancer."

[CalamityJade]

"Aahh...well, then a pretty face is an asset." She smiled back. "Didn't think there were many...Oi! Yer that pretty fella that does all the shows at the big theatre in the rich part a town, right?! Well, you're down right famous!" She looked away, a tad bit embarassed. "Ya must think me stupid not to recognize ya."

He blushes. "It's quite alright. I'm new in town, you know."

[CalamityJade]

"STill, you have posters up and everythin." she gave a bit of a sigh. "Sorry to hear bout yer leg, but at least ya going it. saw a man workin in one of the old factories and got his arm caught in it. cut it clean off. Had a pretty sour time of it."

Nathaniel pales. "I.... yes, that is lucky."

She gave another smile. "Quite lucky. Still, ya keep at it and you'll be walking out of here in no time atall."

He nods, slowly. "Yeah... of course."

[CalamityJade]

She gave a bit of a smile. "Now don't worry about me. Don't mean to scare you or anything. Workin here you see all sorts of terrible things happen." She moves a bit closer to check the flowers, revealing that she had a name tag. Apparently this was Harriet H. "So what kinda ballet do ya do?"

"Classic," he says, tucking some hair behind his ear. "I was the lead in Swan Lake."

[CalamityJade]

"Ah...well, what's that? Something to do with people watchin birds?" She seemed serious for a moment before laughing. "Sorry, sorry, I know that ballet is stories to dancing, but not sure which one that is."

He smiles. "It's a lovely story about a man -- a prince-- who falls in love with a beautiful young maiden. She's been cursed, though; she lives as a gorgeous white swan on a lake with her former handmaidens, also swans. She can only take her real form at night. The enchanter who cursed her, worried he'll lose his swans, plays a trick on the prince, dressing his daughter up as the maiden he fell in love with so that he'll marry her instead. Heartbroken, his beloved dies, and he follows after her. At the end, they're reunited in heaven."
