Garric makes a bit of a face for a moment. "Hey now...don't go counting him out like that. O's a tough kid. Tougher than most around here. Whatever's goin on with him would have to be a hell of a lot bigger than the news to take him out. "All I know is that if one of the Welcomed vanish, people notice. They got those guilded bums combin the streets, but leave anyone else to fend for themselves or go through the cops." He scoffed a bit at that, but there was...a little bit of concern. Not a lot, but a faint worry in his voice.

T hesitates, looking at the stone. "...Are you sure he was Welcomed?"

Gaerric is silent for a few moments. "...When you see him again...you didn't hear this from me, got it? When he got here, pretty much the same week he'd arrived, he stumbled into my gym looking a mess." He started eating a little as he talked. "Bloody, bruised, broken nose. The whole thing looked pretty nasty. Guy asked if he could sit for a bit and passed out in one of my chairs by the entrance."

"So I patch him up and ask what the hell the kid's doin, and he tells me it wasn't any of my damn business!" Garric laughed. "Can you believe the nerve of that? Anyway, eventually I get it out of him that he'd been fighting with some Welcomed brat that said he couldn't stand seeing country folk trying to make it in New Avalon, even less so if they were from the next country over. So they get in a scrape about it and that's how he ended up that way. Now, I didn't find out till later, but the other kid...in the hospital with a cracked scull and five broken ribs." He shakes his head. "Guy was Welcomed, so he got treated real good, but still had the scars from the fight."

"Anyway...that guy...er....Rupart...Rudy...Rudy Troy, yeah, that's it! He tries doing everything he can ta wreck your dad, but nothing sticks. So everyone starts going over it...and figured since he comes in and works out he had ta be Welcomed to fight. Did good with it too....but no one ever really tried to look...well, except that one woman, but if SHE thought he wasn't welcomed, don't see why she wouldn't say somethin."

"One woman?" she asks, sharply, as she looks up from trying to figure out how she can both eat and keep her knife handy.

"Yeah. One of those fatespinner broads." He shakes his head. "Let me tell you, they did NOT get along. Figured he was worried about her possibly telling if he was Welcomed or not, but it seemed like something else." Garric chuckled "You could tell when he'd had a run-in with her, cuz he'd have to spend money replacing my damn sandbag."

"...was her name Mordriana?"

Garric gave her a look. "I thought you were supposed to be missing for weeks? Yer dad was tearing all across town looking for you and he never found ya?"

"I was. I am. You haven't seen me. But I met this Mordriana chick."

She pauses, frowning, as she puts her knife down to eat. "...he was looking for me?"

"Looking? He damn near threatened one of those guilded assholes for not taking it seriously when he reported you missing. That's why I wasn't too worried about him. Figured he'd be getting into problems with the cops and didn't wanna bring it here. Guy was like that. Tried to keep problems he had to himself. And with him disappearin...figured it's probably best he didn't find ya if he's really missing."

T lowers her gaze. "If you see him again... tell him.... tell him I died." she blurts out, before shoving a forkful of food in her mouth. Smooth, she chides herself.

~Why would you want him to think you're died.~

Garric blinked a couple of times. "...look, kid. If you met that Mordrianna chick, i'd probably give her a bit of a berth. Not a lot of people can get under yer dad's skin."

"I saved her life. Next I see her I'm calling in the favor." She says, with her mouth full, before she swallows. "I mean it though."

Garric shakes his head. "What happened? Every time I asked your dad, he'd clam up about it, but I know he was looking as hard as he could for ya."

"It doesn't matter. I don't plan to go back, ever. So it's best if he stops looking."

There's a deep chuckle from the old man. "You want him to stop, you'll have to find him first. There's things he doesn't take anyone's opinion about, and I'm pretty sure that's one of them. He'd have to hear it from you or he won't believe it."
