Nathaniel chuckles. "She's my patron," he explains, as though that answers the question.

"Well, yeah, but just because she pays you doesn't mean the two of you have a thing."

Nathaniel smiles. "It's a safe assumption that an... after-hours relationship is involved when someone patronizes a single dancer like this, rather than the company as a whole." He keeps his tone gentle and mild.

[CalamityJade]

Harriet actually looked a little shocked. "Hold on there, so yer saying that the two of you been goin at it? Well, I guess the least you could do is help out, then. Must break all sorts of folk's hearts that you're taken, ."

Nathaniel smiles. "It's the way of artists like myself."

[CalamityJade]

"Well, I think you could do with a nice visit. Only ones that have come by are that Roidmet and the lady that came in with you.. Anyone you want let through if they come by?" She gave a bit of a concerned look. "i know some folk worry about who people are keepin company with, but that's none of their bisness."

Nathaniel smiles. "Anyone who comes to visit me, I'm sure I'd appreciate."

[CalamityJade]

"Right then. Well, I'll have to go about my rounds. You keep yerself well, alright?"

"And you as well."

She left for her rounds, as cheery as always. It was amazing that she wasn't 'welcomed' considering how much she enjoyed her work and her overall mood. Granted, there weren't many 'waiting' that Nathaniel knew outside of some of the dancers, but that was bound to happen. It was why they were so driven to be the best.

There was a knock on his door as he'd been thinking. The woman there now was QUITE familiar. Theadora always had the presence to her. She drew eyes as some flowers drew bees. Her outfit was always the latest fashion and every small bit of here look was designed to show elegance and beauty. It was amazing that she would even be here, seeing how there wasn't much beauty in a hospital.

The joy that crosses Nathaniel's face is all the more compelling because it's entirely honest: he's pleased to have a visitor to break up the dull monotony of being bedridden that he anticipated following Harriet's departure. "Dora! How lovely to see you, do come right in."

She gave her practiced smile as she moved smoothly to his bedside. "Oh Nathaniel...I apologize for not coming earlier." She put a hand on top of his. "Have they been treating you well? I don't expect it's what you deserve, considering the...plain state of the room, but I have been known to be surprised."

Nathaniel nods, tears welling up. "I have been well treated, yes. There's a nurse who has been particularly kind to me. But I do long to get out of this hospital bed."

[CalamityJade]

"Well of course. You were never one to lay about long" She gave a somewhat knowing smile. Oh yes, she was quite aware of Nathaniel's stances on 'laying about'. "At least the staff seems to know what to do, then. Now, how bad is it? I can't imagine they plan to keep you here forever."

Nathaniel takes a deep breath. "They seem reasonably sure I'll walk again..."
