So it wants to fix things by killing people... Hang on a minute.

"Though I do have a few about what's happening to your lady friend, I think."

This'll be yet more weirdness...

Rob indicates T should continue.

"The city has.... helper-spirits. Sort of like repairmen. Outside, I witnessed one trying to exterminate our target -- indicating it sees people like him as problems with the city."

She hesitates, then continues, a little less sure: "Speaking with one older spirit, he seemed... confused about the Lost. Mordriana also said something about the Lost not originally existing. I think there's something seriously wrong with the city itself, and the fact that you can trick it at all is a symptom."

The Lost didn't originally exist? I thought they were always a part of New Avalon...

"When did the Lost start appearing?"

T shrugs. "I have no idea. I only moved here a few years ago. You'd want someone who;s been here for ages, someone who's got his finger on what's going on in the city." And anyone I could think of, I'd sure not want to bring a detective to meet.

~I...think the Lost aren't supposed to happen, not that they didn't exist. It was probably something that let you know something was wrong...like seeing the handymen.~

Same thing though, right? Nobody's supposed to be Lost.

~No, the lost don't make any sense. There may be people waiting for their purpose, or people the city would do away with, but just lingering here does not make any sense.~

"It seems to me that working out why the Lost exist in the first place could be key to working out what's really going on," Rob theorises. "Which could be a problem; it's not a popular subject."

Rob pauses a moment to consider his options.

I think the next person I need to see is the Fatespinner; good thing interviewing her is part of the GRD assignment. After that, it may be worth getting Gregory's take on the situation, though I'm not sure how much extra he could explain. And even though I won't be swayed by idle threats, the fact someone wrote that note must mean something.

"Ash, would you be up for finding out more about Perry?"

"What did you have in mind?" she asks, blandly.

"I was thinking some covert research," Rob explains simply.
