The Gig [Finished]

[yamikuronue]

"Yeah." says Vic, casually. This guy again... why? he wonders to himself. Why not any of the enforcers this job would usually go to? Why Tony, of all people? Hell, why Vic?! The Boss moves in mysterious ways.

"Got work for you. A little errand."

[accalia]

"And your uncle couldn't have called me?" Tony complains mildly "I know he has my number.... Fine, get in, you can explain it to me while i drive."

[yamikuronue]

And so they find themselves in Tony's car once more, with Vic giving general directions. "We just need to shut a place down. There shouldn't be many guards, and I've got some gas to torch the place."

[accalia]

And with that they're stopped again, tony pulling off the road onto the hard shoulder and keying off the car.

"Why?" is the only word out of his mouth.

[yamikuronue]

Vic scowls. "Because the boss says so," he snaps, crossing his arms. After a moment, he adds, sullenly, "Lucky's boys are moving into the area and we don't want them here interrupting our operations."

[accalia]

"I won't be a murderer." Tony insists. That's one he won't budge on. Murder is out.

[yamikuronue]

"Then you'll be a corpse, because if there's any guards they'll shoot you." snaps Vic.

[accalia]

"Then we do it a different way." Tony's not gonna budge on this one. "Murder is not happening. My father would have, i will not."

[yamikuronue]

"Great. Fantastic. I guess I'm going to walk to Lucky's new place and burn down a brothel myself." Vic reaches for the door handle, grabbing his backpack.

[accalia]

"Are you really okay with killing others? you realize that with how fast the fire has to spread to take care of the job it's probably that most of the girls will be in real danger, right?" Tony's actually sounding alarmed at that.... the casualness of the murder!

[yamikuronue]

Vic's hand twitches slightly. "Probably there won't be girls yet. They're still getting set up. I don't care what happens to Lucky's men."

[accalia]

"You willing to go to Saint Peter with that on your conscience?"

[yamikuronue]

"No such guy," grunts Vic, sounding... odd. One part angry, two parts sad?

[accalia]

"Look, I'll case the joint at least, maybe we can find a way to do this that doesn't cross that line."

[yamikuronue]

"You can't just trick your way through everything!" bursts Vic, fear and anger and pain clawing at the inside of his chest. "You keep acting like this is all a game, like you can just wish things better and nobody'll get hurt. People get hurt! You screw this up for me, the best case I lose a finger. I've seen it happen."
