I want to make sure that we only have to one magic system in place for "Song" and I'm thinking the system that O uses is a better base than Echo's

How his magic works? Well, he's kinda a shit wizard. He knows a few spells that he wanted to make sure worked, so he got a 'circle' tattooed on his body so he can just channel the right amount of energy to activate it. Since it's on his body, it only affects him.

He can draw circles for protection and other things, but he needs to spend time on them first.

right, 's not a good wizard, sure but the magic system itself it what interests me. As i'm assuming that's the magic system Grace picks up.

Unless Morden or Siegfried would be the ones to guide her in magic as she grows?

hmm... yeah i can work with that as a system...

although i haven't played much with equivalent exchange... though that would explain why Echo healed the way he did.

/me makes a note to get the scanlations of the first couple of books to refamiliriase herself with the system.... also to check out the wiki.

Kinda thinking like that, just it isn't making stuff into other things. He can only affect himself with the tattoos...though it would make sense why Echo was able to heal as much if his body could take the injuries onto itself. That's just....usually lethal.

there were a few injuries he's healed that should have been. okay i'll work on that general model of magic then. nice and flexible, equivalent exchange means you can't go all thermonuclear without at least some preparation, and the system does include an explanation as to why Echo failed to bring Sylphia back to life.
