and now you know two of the three partners. That took longer than i thought it would, but i guess i was optimistic (we had more scenes that needed playing to get here than i thought we did)

and you know something interesting about Echo.

yamikuronue

Echo's "perfume" may or may not be him as opposed to the other being in his head, btw

accalia

FYI: it would very much not be a good idea for siegfried to still be there when the warning stops...

like.... really not a good idea.

what happens then has taken out entire epic level parties in one hit.

It's not fatal, but Siegfried would never be the same again either.

yamikuronue

OK, I'll have him give up in one more round

accalia

that would be wise. i imagine Siegfried would react poorly to being suddenly and forever severed from the astral plane.

yamikuronue

Yikes.

Yes.

...though I'm sorely tempted to do a spinoff AU or something https://what.thedailywtf.com/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji-one/static/images/1f606.png" class="not-responsive emoji emoji-parsed" data-set-id="emoji-one" data-emoji-id="laughing" alt="XD" title="XD" />

accalia

yeah.... wherever Echo is is not a good place for people to be.

accalia

so that was interesting.

where to next? ;-P

yamikuronue

I'll try to think of what's next on the way to work

maybe it's time for Obsidian to talk to Julie?

or siegfried could talk to Julie again, or go looking for Echo.

not sure how you want to play it but i tend to  have the Astral plane have a different flow of time than RL (faster by about a factor of ten) and then Echo's private "island" runs at a different scale of time entirely (cyclical, about ten minute local cycle (the warning voice wasn't triggered by siegfried. https://what.thedailywtf.com/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji-one/static/images/1f609.png" class="not-responsive emoji emoji-parsed" data-set-id="emoji-one" data-emoji-id="wink" alt=";-)" title=";-)" />) and running at a variable speed compared to "outside")

yamikuronue

Yeah, I was hoping someone would have an idea for the next scene https://what.thedailywtf.com/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji-one/static/images/1f600.png" class="not-responsive emoji emoji-parsed" data-set-id="emoji-one" data-emoji-id="grinning" alt=":)" title=":)" />

We seem to be drifting a bit. What are our goals right now?

  • something something Lance not being an asshole

  • Siegfried wants to find a way to help Echo

  • Presumably we want to train Siegfried to use his powers effectively

accalia

about that... yeah that seems a good set of plans.

little bit worried about that second bullet point, mainly because that spells the end of echo usually. Not that that's a bad thing (it's actually why i brought in Sidhe (Who has more names than the one she does legal business under) because she's needed to make that happen.) but it's always a scary thing entering a scene that you know will end in the death of your character.

then again Echo was created for the purpose of dying, as a phoenix.... kinda. If you get to that point of his story it's actually pretty awesome, and i can't think of a better person to see it through than Siegfried. https://what.thedailywtf.com/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji-one/static/images/1f609.png" class="not-responsive emoji emoji-parsed" data-set-id="emoji-one" data-emoji-id="wink" alt=";-)" title=";-)" />

yamikuronue

I am like, the WORST at killing characters. I hate to do it because then I can't play with them any more >.>

To be fair, if Siegfried can find a way to make Echo's life better without fixing all his issues, or if he can find enough understanding about the issues to realize that solving them would kill Echo and Echo doesn't want that, he'll settle for something less than solving the whole mystery. He hates to be pushy, but at the same time, Echo's frustrating because he refuses to even acknowledge what's going on.

Oh! Also! Meta-plot information: Siegfried is rarely played on his own these days, because he's supposed to be with someone we haven't seen in this game yet. I don't recall if I've mentioned, but the way my multi-verse works, there are sort of ripples and patterns that influence the various worlds, such that if something happens one way in 9 worlds, the 10th world is highly likely to have the same outcome again. It's not guaranteed, but the bigger the deviation, the less likely it is to occur. That's basically what passes for "destiny" around here: a large amount of plot inertia https://what.thedailywtf.com/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji-one/static/images/1f600.png" class="not-responsive emoji emoji-parsed" data-set-id="emoji-one" data-emoji-id="grinning" alt=":)" title=":)" />

Siegfried's "destiny" is to in some way find, aid, and generally run things for Morden, either a specific shard or the meta version. The meta version will definitely show up if we do anything to break or threaten the aspects of mortality that ought to exist in the world: kill an immortal, make a mortal immortal via "cheating" (in a world with vampires, turning someone into a vampire is fine, but making them into a lich would be "cheating", unless liches are a common thing as well. Stealing implants from the next world over and making them into a cyborg is flagrant cheating.) The shard may or may not exist in this world, depending if we want it to or not, but if it does, it's a character like any other and has no idea it's part of meta-Morden.

So! We can play with that if we want it, or leave it alone if we don't.

accalia

The thing is, even if they don't know it Sylphia, Echo, and the third entity want to "die".

they are bound in an ancient curse and they want to end it. unfortunately part of the curse is that they are absolutely unable to recognize each other. Well the third entity can, but it's incapable of communicating directly with the other two and if it uses a proxy (like Siegfried) then that proxy would be subject to the same restrictions of the curse.
