Aight, so I'd like to identify the magical items, if I can. Would probably keep the potion unless it's something that someone else could use a lot more.

Hunter would probably, grumpily, present the rings, potion and scrolls to Jean to ID (he's still wary of the entire group but Jean has... earned some limited respect). Ringy too, but he figures the Alydrean is the better bet for magic stuff and wants to talk to as few people as possible still). He already passed on the notebook and cash, but would probably not think overly much of the dagger and just keep it as he lacks a blade atm (he's clearly a ranged fighter but he would like a backup).

So... should we roll to identify the rings, potion and scrolls here?

Scroll 1: roll 1d20 = 11 + 9 = 20
Scroll 2: roll 1d20 = 7 + 9 = 16
Scroll 3: roll 1d20 = 15 + 9 = 24
Potion:   roll 1d20 = 10 + 9 = 19
Ring 1:   roll 1d20 = 4 + 9 = 20
Ring 2:   roll 1d20 = 8 + 9 = 16

All three scrolls appear to be identical, though you can't be 100% sure; they appear to be Gentle Repose, based on the last one which you have an easier time reading having been staring at the previous two.

The potion is a healing spell, Cure Moderate Wounds

The rings? Jean has no idea. They're way more powerful than the scrolls or potion.

Cool. Hunter would take the two rings to, err, Ringy at that point. He'd leave the scrolls and potion with Jean as he has no interest in them.

Ringy also uses Detect Magic + Spellcraft on the rings:

Ring 1:   roll 1d20 = 7 + 7 = 14
Ring 2:   roll 1d20 = 15 + 7 = 22

Like Jean, Ringy can't figure out the first ring, though both did notice it has a faint Abjuration aura.

The second ring is much trickier, with a moderate evocation aura, and Ringy likewise can't quite figure it out.

Looking very grave, Hunter squares his shoulders, then approaches Cobalt- when she's with Jean or Ringy. Carefully, and ready to bolt. (Cobalt freaks him out. She's so... happy. It can't be healthy.)

Cobalt uses an extract of Identify in place of Detect Magic:

Ring 1:   roll 1d20 = 15 + 16 + 10 enhancement = 41
Ring 2:   roll 1d20 = 9 + 16 + 10 enhancement = 35

The first ring is a Ring of Protection +2, but it must be a custom job, because it can only be used by one who worships Kato. 

The second, more complicated ring, is a Ring of Counterspells, currently set to counter Magic Missile for whatever reason.

Delicious. None of us are Kato peeps right? I think either sell the ring or get it disenchanted/destroyed, and the CS Ring go to Ringy. Ringy should have all the rings. All of them. =3

Joker is very interested in the limiting factor there... A necromancer of Kato (murder, lies, betrayal, fire), not Tessaline (despair, night, entropy and undead)? Interesting, interesting indeed. Perhaps Necrolite Phil was not inept but instead putting on a show to hide his disloyalty to the cult? Could be something to keep in mind.

Also, Counterspells to Ringy... no real objection. Joker would be willing to head to the Kato district (with backup) to find a buyer for the other one. Probably get more there for it.
