The Winter's Queen [Magus AU]

[Tethras Clan]

"Given you're not a combatant, retreating is wise," Zevran replies. "Do you know if there's someone we can get some rest? Isabela and I were both... drained, I think the word is? by various undead and rest sounds lovely."

Silence gently nudges Helene'e hand, seeing the small person's nervousness.

[Helene Dakesh]

"This one knows of a place. This way." Helene leads them through the throng of people, back into the parsonage area and into a pleasant, furnished bedroom. Lelldorin offered me a nap back here, I'm sure he won't mind if the real heroes use it for a bit.

[Tethras Clan]

Glancing at the size, Zevran sets Isabela down (a little gratefully, she's a well-built woman). "You should be sure to rest as well, Seeker," Zevran notes. "

[Helene Dakesh]

"This one is less run-down than Honored Zevran and Honored Isabela," they say, bowing their head. 

[Tethras Clan]

"Plenty of room," Zevran says with a gesture at the bed. "Neither of us are up for more than sleep for once anyway. Whatever those undead did..." He winces a little.

[Helene Dakesh]

"This one is unsure if sleep will come. This one..." They hesitate, shifting the weight from foot to foot. "This one is disheartened by this one's failure to atone." 

[Tethras Clan]

Zevran offers a wan smile. "Still alive?" he asks leadingly.

[Helene Dakesh]

"This one would be alive even if this one had died atoning for this one's sins. This life was... unlikely to have been well-lived enough to end this one's cycles. This one... had hoped that..." They shake their head. "This one hopes that this one will be able to stop the lich before... This one has heard reports of more dead rising, well after the initial event. This one fears all of Nyra will be overrun." 

[Tethras Clan]

"As long as you're alive, you can keep trying," Zevran explains. "We had some success this run. If nothing else, I'm sure Varric is working on an improved plan thanks to today's gains. You being able to peek at the lich will be very helpful with refining that."

[Helene Dakesh]

Helene nods. "This one requested a mirror, in case this one had to discover your whereabouts. This one should be able to investigate again in a few hours when one is procured."

[Tethras Clan]

"Sounds like now would be a fine time to rest then, does it not, ma'bela?" Zevran suggests.

[Isabela]

"It does," she agrees, her voice gentle as well as low in volume. "Seeker. Rest. None of us are gods, to go for days on end." 

[Helene Dakesh]

Helene bows their head. "If you insist," they mumble, quietly, clearly recognizing that they're outnumbered. 

[Tethras Clan]

Zevran slips Isabela's boots off, then his own, before slipping into the bed next to her. "Take what spot you'll be most comfortable with, Helene," he murmurs without looking at them.

[Isabela]

Isabela curls around him, comfortable and comforted; after a moment, Helene climbs in the other side, deciding they'll at least try to sleep. A little. 

Before long, all three are unconscious. 


Zevran is awakened with the sound of a thud, very close by. Immediately after is a gasp, of pain and horror mingled, from the far side of the bed.
