Helene Dakesh

"This one appreciates the value of notes you have Dakesh's journals?" There's no break between the two sentences, the latter almost engulfing the former.
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Avato (Patchwork Bloke)

More blinking. "I am... glad you appreciate the value of Dakesh that was..." His voice fades out, a confused look on his face. The runes on his skin speed up, moving erratically instead of in slow spirals. "Hmm? Oh, hello. Seeker Helene, wasn't it? Glad to see you made it through the storm. Flood?"

Tethras Clan

Zevran slides down he ladder right about then, a thermos of tea in one hand. He looks around and winces. "Well, this is... rather a mess."

Helene Dakesh

"Dogsbody," says Helene in an urgent voice -- one with a bit more inflection to it. "You have Dakesh's journals?"
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Avato (Patchwork Bloke)

"I... do?" A pause. "Ah, yes. Two, his most recent, yes. He put them in caches- like this- often but obviously could not do so after he died. Most of what I have, on me anyway, is my own writings, though most are of my time with him." His head tilts, an apologetic expression forming. "Dakesh was very... possessive of his, ah, possessions. If he was not carrying it, it was hidden in a cache."

Helene Dakesh

"This one recalls," says Helene, and there's a sadness in their voice, subtle but present. "May this one see the writings that one carries?"
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Avato (Patchwork Bloke)

He glances around the room, then sniffs fussily. "Yes, of course, but perhaps in a more... sanitary environment? This much moisture in the air... tch."

Tethras Clan

Zevran snickers a little, amused at the fussy librarian air the strange being is adopting, as he offers Helene the thermos.
<e> Honesty. Openness. Trust. <dw>Stabbed in the gut! With a sword!

Helene Dakesh

Helene pushes the thermos away, turning toward the mirror room. "This way, then. This one will show you to the most sacred chamber, where it should be safe from the humidity. This one would read what you have brought."
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Avato (Patchwork Bloke)

"Ah? All of it? I wouldn't think you'd want to spend another night here..."

Helene Dakesh

"This one is prepared to remain however long it takes."
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Tethras Clan

"Helene, my love, perhaps we should focus on recovering what we can from here to Voice, where we- by which I mean you- can read in comfort and safety?" Zevran suggests.
<e> Honesty. Openness. Trust. <dw>Stabbed in the gut! With a sword!

Helene Dakesh

Helene turns to Zevran, aghast. "But what if-- what if there's something in it that changes things? I must know immediately!"
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Tethras Clan

"And what if you start read them right here and now and one of them gets ruined? Or any of the many dangers in the Undercity, displaced by the flooding, attack?" Zevran points out, frowning at them. You are... rather overwrought, ma bon sage
<e> Honesty. Openness. Trust. <dw>Stabbed in the gut! With a sword!

Helene Dakesh

Helene shakes their head, impatiently. "What if I learn something that disrupts our plans? What if I discover something I must attend to immediately? Or something that causes Honored Madam Zevvy to rescind their offer of hospitality?"
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."
