[Tethras Clan]

"Eh, at least goats eat trash," Varric says with a shrug, slipping back to common as well. "And you want 'cearr' with a hard 'kah' sound. Not bad though, for a non-native speaker no less."

[Marian Hawke]

"Thanks," she begins, "I-- Wait a minute. My siblings. You have them."

[Varric]

"I do not," Varric replies promptly. "I have employees." Or should that be debtors?

[Marian Hawke]

"They're underage, that's illegal," she snaps. "Give them back."

[Varric]

"Not at all- it's only illegal if there's a contract and so forth," Varric replies, studying her. "I'm guessing you're the older sister that's gonna fight... Ted, I think it was, if he gets upset about them being responsible mortals?"

[Marian Hawke]

"Marian Hawke," she replies, warily. 

[Varric]

Varric sighs. As fun as it was winding the kid up... "Varric Tethras," he replies, nodding to her. "Come on in and see for yourself what I have your poor, beleaguered sibs doing."

[Marian Hawke]

She eyes him again, still suspicious, but after a moment she follows him inside. 

[Bethany]

Once she's inside, it's not long before she can hear Bethany humming softly, as she often does when her hands are busy and her mind free to wander. Following the noise, she's quickly treated to the side of her little sister furiously whisking away at a bowl of dough, the tip of her tongue sticking out slightly. At the table, Carver is scowling at his own task- homework. Math homework to be exactly. What in Astea's name..?

[Marian Hawke]

"Just playing in the woods?" she asks, raising an eyebrow. 

[Carver Amell]

Carver looks up from his homework, jumping to his feet. "Why are you here?!"

[Marian Hawke]

"Why are you?" she fires back. "You're meant to be doing your homework at home, right now!"

[Bethany]

"But, uh, well, you see, the thing is," Bethany blurts out all at once after she gets over her initial freeze.

[Marian Hawke]

"Mother is going to be furious."

[Carver Amell]

"The hell she is!"
